Meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m. by Chairman Russ Rainey.
Pledge of allegiance was recited and roll call taken.
The minutes from the September 15th, 2012 meeting was approved.
Threat Update
Lt. Jones reported that the threat level is still elevated- there are no
changes. Travelers are advised not to travel to the middleeast at this
time.
Hurricane Season
Rick passed out Weather maps for Jan, Feb & March 2013 that shows
the temperature outlook for the next three months. The temperature
and rain average will be normal. The hurricane season is likely over as
the Gulf has cooled off.
L.M.S. (Local Mitigation Strategy)
Rick reported that the one million dollars in a grant has been received
from Tropical Storm Debbie. The next meeting of LMS wig'be Friday,
November 30th at 9:00 a.m. at the Library. Date:

New EOC Employees
Judy introduced Dan Summers, EOC director who introduced his new
assistant, Ms. Cathy Heinrich and Mr. Mike Shaw as the new EOC
Co-ordinator.
Dan was asked about Hurricane Sandy. Personnel from Polk&
Hillsborough responded to New York. How will FEMA and Insurance
Companies going to sort out the mitigation in the disaster area of NYC .
Dan will be briefing us in the future about EOC planning. Jim Elson
asked Dan if the EOC was activated prior to Hurricane Isaac. The
answer was yes. He went to the Board of Commissioners to declare an
emergency which depends on the size and track of the storm. There was
storm surge in Goodland and Everglade City after Isaac passed by.
Individual Reports
Chris Nind from Salvation Army asked Dan if there were plans to train
people next year. Dan said yes. The Salvation Army & Walmart have
partnered to have a survival kit available in a kiosk that will dispense
coupons and have hurricane kits. The Red Kettle campaign began last
Saturday. Last year the Naples Salvation was third in the state for
donations.
Walt Jaskiewicz reported that the Coast Guard handled the pollution
problem in NYC with 4 volunteers deployed.
Reg Buxton reported that the Chamber had nothing new to report.
Jerry reported that on Saturday, December 15th at 12noon, the Naples
Civil Air Patrol will be hosting a "Wreaths across America" ceremony
at the site of the Freedom Memorial. Seven wreaths will be presented by
a member the armed forces. All are invited to attend.
Dr. j. Neiween from MRC has nothing to report.
Steve Smith reports that he now has 500 active volunteers. He is hosting
a welcome back tea on November 29th at 2:30 p.m. at the North Collier
Regional Park.
Jim Elson reports that over 4,000 American flags have been collected by
the Freedom Eagles. The Boy Scouts have been very helpful in the
gathering of the flags. The Veterans Day ceremony at Cambier Park
was very successful. Returning servicemen are having a hard time
finding housing in our area. A clinic on Horse Shoe drive is open for the
Veterans. Jim knows of 4 companies that will hire a returning
serviceman.
Chairman Rainey shared the following bi-monthly meeting dates.
January 16th, March 13th, May 15th, July 17th, September 18th and
November 20th, 2013.
