PSCC Minutes 10/25/2012October 25 2012 MINUTES OF THE COLLIER COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY COORDINATING COUNCIL MEETING Naples, Florida, October 25, 2012 LET IT BE REMEMBERED, the Collier County Public Safety Coordinating Council, having conducted business herein, met on this date at 2:00 PM in REGULAR SESSION at the Human Resources Conference Room, Building `B ", 3303 East Tamiami Trail, Naples, Florida, with the folly iirembers present: CHAIRMAN: Fred Coyle, County Commissioner Judge Eugene C. Jail "Snap -Shot' Report - Captain Beth Richards (to include pre -trial supervision, the status of the 287(8) Program, and inmate certification programs) III. New Business A. Confirmation of Chief Judge Jay B. Rosman's designee (Circuit Judge Jim Shenko) on the Collier County PSCC IV. Comments /Agency Updates V. Public Comments VI. I. Introduction A. Call to Order Commission Coyle called the meeting to order at 2:07 PM. A quorum was not established. The meeting was continued for informational purposes. B. Approval of the PSCC Meeting Minutes from March 22, 2012 (None) rev. II. Old Business A. Jail "Snap- Shot" Report Captain Beth Richards gave a Jail "Snap- Shot" Report slide presentation: Overview — Corrections Department Population Statistics Future Direction 287G — Worked for Collier County Pre -Trial Supervision Weekend Working Program Reintegration/ Breaking the Cycle Discussion was made on 287G Program, how it has helped Collier County, the percentage of legal and illegal fo i - • born inmates, the number of transported detainees a year and how many urn to Collier County. The Council requested statistics on just the number deported and not detained. The following CCSO Staff addressed many questions received from the Council: Katina Bouza Barbara Koval`u Al Erik Miller Captain Beth Richards continued the Jail "Snap- Shot" presentation: Impact on Collier County if 287G Program is discontinued Pre -Trial Release New Participants and Savings Commission Coyle asked how the Public Safety Council could assist the Sheriff's Department to encourage the retention of the 287G Program. 'f Captain Beth Richards will bring this offer to Sheriff Rambosk. III. New Business A. Confirmation of Chief Judge Jay B. Rosman's designee (Circuit Judge Jim Shenko) on the Collier County PSCC Commission Coyle introduced Circuit Judge Jim Shenko. IV. Comments /Agency Updates PA October 25 2012 Commission Coyle noted that it was not necessary for the PSCC to meet every quarter and could go into a more flexible schedule. He suggested the Council consider a meeting frequency at a future meeting where a quorum was determined. It could also be treated as an administrative issue in which he would take on the responsibility of scheduling the Public Safety Council meetings and notify the members. He asked if anyone had any objections. No objections were made. It was noted the County and the Sheriff's Department had received a lette om the Jewish Federation of Collier County regarding reoccurring incidences v the past several years. The latest incident occurred at the Corkscrew Midd 1 where 3 swastikas had been painted with the message of "we will b o iece by piece." Commission Coyle asked for an update from the Sheriff s office on whose responsible and what action, if any has been taken. AW V. Public Comments (None) NEXT MEETING: To be determined.
