BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY CO~4ISSIONER~ OF
COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA;
SECTION ONE:
That Section 107.2 of the "Southern Standard Building Code"
adopted as the "Collier County Building Code" be and is hereby
amended to read as follows=
107.2 - Failure to obtain a Permit' Unlawfult Oua.druple.
~eer. Penalty~.Restgration and Correction.Required.
(a) If any person commences shy work on a building or
structure before obtaining the necessary permit from the
applicable governing body, he shall be subject to the penalty
prescribed herein.
(b) Where construction is commenced before a permit is
obtained, the permit fee shall be quadrupled, and a penalty
to a maximum of Five }lundred Dollars ($500.00) shall apply
to the owner and contractor for each day such owner or con-
tractor allows, permits or suffers construction to continue
prior to obtaining a building permit for the work.
(c) In the event such construction fails to comply with
local State or Federal law, rules or regulations in addition
to S107.2(b) above, the contractor and owner shall be Jointly
and severally liable and responsible to, and shall restore the
premises or cause the construction to comply with such law,
rules and regulations or whichever is the most restrictive.
SECTION TWO:
Construction. The provisions of this OrdinanCe shall be
liberally construed to effectively carry out its purposl~n ~ ~1
the interest of the public health, safety, welfare and ~v~en~enc~
Conflict. In the event this Ordinance conflicts

o%her Ordinance of Collier County or other applicable la~e~
more restrictive shall apply.
Severance. If any phrase or portion of this Ordinance
for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional 'by any court
of competent Jurisdiction, such portion ,h~ll':'be deemed a'
separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding
shall not affect the validity of the remaining port'on.
Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect upon
receipt of notice that it has been filed with the Secretary
of State.
