Commissioner Coodni9ht stated that the Collier County Fair Chllrter
was approved by the Board of Directors in 1176 and a Fair Board was
appointed from the Charter Members by the Board of County
Commissioners. She further state1 that in 1977, the Board of Count~
Commissioners instructed the Fair Board to go through a nominatinQ
committee and bring those recommendations to the Board. She indicated
that the bylaws do not clearly state this.

Mr. Robert Smith, Vice Preaident, Collior County Fair Board, statod
that ho would like to see the Reeolution becomeeCfective next year,
atatlnQ it will reeult in maes confusion if recommendations muat be
.ade on. ~pril 19.
Deputy Chief Ray Barnett, Sheriff.'. Department, advised that he wae
on the Fair Board in 1976, noting that the County wanted the Fair
Board to recommend a slate of officers to the Board, and the Board
would approve them.
To clarify the confusion, Commissioner Goodnight stated that the
Board of County Commissioners approves 8 members, noting that the 9th
_",ber ie the past president. She furthor stated that on the night of
the annual meeting, the nominating committee makes their recommen-
dations for the 11 members which is voted by the Charter Membera and
the members of the Collier County Fair Board. She stated that after
the election, they are introduced to the new Board.

INC., SETTING FORTH A PROCEDURE FOR MAKING
RECOMMtNDATIONS TO TilE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSION1:':RS FOR APPOINTMENTS TO TilE
BOARb OF DIRECTORS, REQUESTING TilE BOARD
OF DIRECTORS TO AMEND TilE BYt.AWS TO
CONFORM WITH TillS RESOLUTION, PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissionors wish.a to
fOr:1l\ally aet forth by Resolution the manner and method whereby it
maku appointments to the Board of Directors of the Collier
County Agricultural Fair and Exposition, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, neither tho Charter nor the Bylaws of the Collier
County Agricultural Fair and Exposition, Inc. specify the manner
and method by which persons are to be appointed to the Board of
Directors by the Board of County Commissioners,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
CO~~ISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, thatl
1. The Board of Directors of the Collier County
Agricultural Fair and Exposition, Inc. shall appoint a nominating
cOllUaittee of five (5) corporation members at least three (3)
month. prior to the annual meeting of the corporation. The
nominating committee shall canvas the membership of the
corporation to determine who are willing and able to serve on the
Board of Directors for the following year.
The nominatin9
committee shall .ubmit its lilt of recollUaended nominee.,
specifying recommended persons for par ::icular po.ition., to the
Bond of Directors for approval by a majority vote of tho.e
pre.ent and voting. Upon approval by the Board of Director., and
atleaat two (H months prior to the annual mooting of the
cOrporation, the nominating committee shall forward the lilt of
nomine.. to the Board of County Commiuionors for consideration
