AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE COLLIER COUNTY GAS
CODE BY ADOPTING THE SOUTHERN STA~DARD GAS CODE
CURRENT EDITION, INCLUDING AMENDMENTS THERETO,
FLORIDA STATUTE 527, AND NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION
ASSOCIATION PAMPHLETS 54 A/~D 58, PROVIDING PENAL-
TIES, SEVERANCE, APPEAL AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY CO~qIISSIONERS OF
COLLIER COtD;TY, FLORIDA.
SECTION ONE:
Adoption of a Gas Code. The Southern Standard Gas Code,
current edition, as published by the Southern Building Code Congress,
as amended herein, Florida Statute 527 and National Fire Protection
Association Pamphlets 54 and 58, is hereby adopted as the Collier
County Gas Code.
SECTION TWO:
Amendments.
A. Section 207.4(a)
amended to read as follows:

"All gas lines shall be buried to a
minimum depth of 18 inches below finished grade. L.P. gas storage
tanks shall not be placed closer than five (5) feet to any part
of any building."
B. Section 111 is amended by adding subsection (e) to read:
"Advance notice. It shall be the duty of the plumber, or the
person installing gas piping, to gi~e 24-hour notice to the
County Building Department when gas piping is ready for test
or inspection.
C. Section 113 is amended to read as follows:

For issuing each permit $5.00
For each outlet $1.00
Hot water heater'residential $1.00
Hot water heater commercial $2.50
Wall heater, floor furnace, range or
bar-b-que $1.00
Drier Residential $1.00
Drier Commercial $2.50
Minimum fee $10.00

3. Any and all fees shall be paid by the person to whom
the permit is issued.
D. Section 103 is amended to read as follows:
"Qualified Installing Agency: Installation and replace-
ment of consumer's gas piping or gas appliances and repair of
consumer's gas appliances shall be performed only by or under the
direct supervis~on of a qualified agency. The term qualified
agency shall mean an individual who possesses a certificate of
competency as prescribed in Ordinance 75-57 in either the category
of mechanical contractor, plumbing contractor, gas fitting con-
tractor, or liquefied petroleum gas installation contractor.
SECTION THREE~
Conflict
Should any provision of this code, as adopted, conflict
with any amendment adopted hereby, or should either conflict with
other ordinances, codes or law, the more restrictive shall apply.
SECTION FOUR:
Severance
If any phrase or portion, of this Ordinance is for any
reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent
jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct
and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the
validity of the remaining poztion.
SECTION FIVE:
Penalty
The provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed an
exercise of the police power of Collier County for the protection
of the public health, safety and welfare and therefore shall be
liberally construed to accomplish that purpose and implement the
legislative intent and declaration.
If such a violation is continuing, each day's violation
or separate act shall be a separate offense.
SECTION SIX~
Appea%
Any person aggrieved by the provisions of this Ordinance
may appeal to the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, whose decision shall be final.
SECTION SEVEN:
Effective Date
This Ordinance shall become effective upon receipt of
notice that it is filed with the Secretary of State.
