Minutes of the January 27,
Advisory Board Meeting
1992 Hispanic Affairs
Please find attached for your review a copy of the minutes to
the January 27, 1992 Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board meeting as
drafted by Gloria Dominquez and typed by my secretary.
I believe that Item B, Staff Report contains an error. The
last sentence of the first paragraph reads as follows:
"Therefore, the motion presented at our meeting of December 12,
1991, by Mr. Garcia to reject any more documents presented by Mr.
Valdez and Mr. Rodriguez is approved." This motion failed because
it did not have the support of five votes.
Any comments you may have with respect to these Minutes
should be made at the next Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board
meeting.
Thank you for your attention to my memorandum.

Re: Hispanic AdvIsory Board.
Dear Ms. Filson,
Enclosed is a copy of my resume to be considered for the vacant posItion
in the HispanIc Advisory Board.
Due to the lack of representatIon that we now have in the community, I
feel that as a HispanIc I should get involved, and at the same time
stimulate and encourage other HIspanIcs to actIvely participate in
communitty affaIrs.
Being appointed to thIS Board will enable me to influence a better
environment, where HIspanics will make themselves present and actively
participate in relevant issues of the community.
I expect a positIve consIderatIon to this my second request.

Re: Hispanic Advisory Board.
(Tllird i{oquesti
Dear Ms. Filson.
Please accept tIle enclosed copy of my resume, for consideration to be
appointed as a member of the Hispanic Advisory Board. This is my third
request for consideration, as in the two previous instances [ was not
designated as a member of the Board.
My motivation to request being appointed to the Board stems from a
genuine spirit of service to the Community of Collier County. I bel ieve
that the best way to serve our community is by getting actively involved
and participating in issues that affects everyone; not just tIle Hispanic
sector. I recognize that Hispanics at times seem alienated or
indifferent to relevant issues. however 1 have discovered that much of
that reaction is caused by lack of communications or inaccurate
information.
I believe that the Board may very well serve as a liaison between rules,
regulations, policies, administration, services: and needs of Hispanics,
that may arise due to changIng conditions caused by the soeio-economic
growth taking place In Collier County. TIle Board should be instrumental
in the planning and forecasting of the economic Influence tllat Hispanics
will bring Into the commercial and social environment of this Community.
By strengthening tIle economic and morai character of Hispanics, we will
be contributing to the overall financial and social growth of Col I ier
County for an even better place to lIve.
1 am committed to put my best effort to work wItll the Board for the
benefit of aI I the residents of Collier County. It is my expectation
your most posItive consideration to this my thIrd request to be
appointed to the Hispanic Advisory Hoard of Col llcr County.
Sincerely,
_'-'.1

and housing are some of the issues whe,-e I belive I can make
a contribution and a difference.
I believe I can make a difference because I have been in
Collier County for a long tin18 and understand the needs of
these people. What candidate could be better for the job
then the one who understands the needs of these people and
finds solutions to these needs.

RE: Hispanic affairs advisory committee
Dear Ms. Filson:
I am applying for the vacant position on the Hispanic affairs
advisory committee and have enclosed a copy of my resume for your
review. As you can see from my resume, I have devoted many hours
to Hispanic interests. It is my belief that our community can
best be served by emphasizing and promoting community involvement
in government affairs and focusing on tangible problems and
workable solutions.
I moved to Florida permanently in June of 1987 but my contacts
with the state go back many years. Although I do not presume to
be a spokesperson for our Hispanic community, I believe I am
representative of that community and welcome the opportunity to
serve.
Sincerely,
M ~ V t~&.cLL.......
