Response Time
To compute response time, null values were removed and calls with response times
greater than 30 minutes were removed. Null values exist in the data when the Agency did
not arrive on scene; this can be due to several reasons such as the call was cancelled while
in route, another Agency arrived and cleared the call, etc. Calls over 30 minutes are
considered extreme values for these data - either very unlikely or due to data error, such
as a call not getting closed out properly, therefore they are removed to avoid any
outliers skewing outcomes.
All EMS /Fire calls
For all EMS /Fire calls, 12 percent had null values and calls over 30 minutes made up less
than 1 percent of all calls for service.

The average create to arrival response time was 8.9.
The median response time was 8.4 indicating 50
percent of calls were under 8.4 minutes. Seventy -
five percent of calls were 10.5 minutes or under
and in 95 percent of calls EMS /Fire arrived in 15.6
minutes or less.
By Priority
For Priority Call categories 1 through 3, null values accounted for about 9 -12 percent of
EMS /Fire calls. As expected, response times were longer for priority 2 than priority 1, and
longer for priority 3 than priority 2.

EMS /Fire Calls for Service - Density Maps
Choropleth density maps by EMS zones and Fire Districts were created. Hot -spot density
maps were created countywide, and by geographical area. These maps represent density
of the selected area only and cannot be compared across different locations. Changing
boundaries change visual output of density hot spots.
