AN ORDINANCE AMENDING COLLIER COUNTY
ORDINANCE 76-6 THE SUBDIVISION
REGULATIONS FOR THE COASTAL AREA PLANNING
DISTRICT, COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA;
AMENDING ARTICLE XI, SECTION 8 I{ELATING
TO FIRE HYDRANTS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICT
AND SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE. ~
WHEREAS, COLLIER COUNTY HAS ADOPTED THE SUBDIVISION

PROTECTION ASSOCIATION CODES; AND
WHEREAS, THE SUBDIVISION RULES AND REGULATIONS CONFLICT WIT}{
THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION CODES;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that Ordinance 76-6
shall be amended as follows:
SECTION ONE:
The Subdivision Rules and Regulations, Ordinance 76-6 Article
XI, Section 8, Fire Hydrants to be amended as follows:
ARTICLE XI
SECTION 8
Fire hydrants - Ail hydrants shall be connected to water
systems having sufficient storage or emergency pumping
facilities to insure that the minimum fire flows will be
maintained for at least four (4) hours or the current ..._.

A. RESIDENTIAL LAND DEVELOPMENT - In one and two
story land developments with not more than ten (10)
dwelling units per acre, fire hydrants shall be spaced
no greater than five hundred (500') feet apart and not
more than two hundred fifty (250') feet to the center of
any lot in the development and shall be connected to
mains no less than six (6") inches in diameter. The
system shall provide capacity for fire flows of at least
five hundred (500) gallons per minute or greater, as
required, in addition to maximum day domestic
requirements at residual pressures of not less than
twenty (20) pounds per square inch.
B. COMMERCIAL, INDUSTRIAL, MULTI-STORY &
MULTI-FAMILY DEVELOPMENTS - Fire Hydrants located in
these areas shall be connected to water mains no less
than eight (8") inches in diameter.

SECTION TWO: CONFLICT AND SEVERABILITY
In the event this Ordinance conflicts with any
other ordinance of Collier county or other applicable
law, the more restrictive shall apply. If any phrase or
portion of this Ordinance is held invalid or
unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction,
such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and
independent provision and such holding shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portion.
SECTION THREE: EFFECTIVE DATE
This Ordinance shall become effective upon receipt of
notice from the Secretary of State that this Ordinance has
been filed with the Secretary of State.

Commissioners of Collier County, Florida this 28thday of
