RESOLUTION 92-~
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ALICO SITE AS
FLORIDA'S TENTH UNIVERSITY SITE
WHEREAS, on May 3, 1991, House Bill 2497 was enacted into law
providing for the location of a tenth university in Southwest
Florida; and
WHEREAS, this Bill provided for an eight member site
.election committee to identify sites in Southwest Florida, which
has indicated the Alico Site as its first choice of sites for the
location of the tenth university.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COLLIER COUNTY BOARD
OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS hereby acknowledges to the Florida Board of
Regents, its enthusiastic endorsement and support of the efforts of
Collier County to locate Florida's tenth university on the Alico
.ite in South Lee County, Florida; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Collier County Board of
Commissioners offers to the Board of Regents, County staff resources
that could be of any assistance in successfully completing the
.election process. In addition, Collier County will assist the
Board of Regents in the design, engineering, and permitting of the
infrastructure and facilities necessitated in the development of the
tenth University, by providing staff support from the County's .
technical and professional staff. Collier County recognizes the
need to expedite the planning, engineering, and permitting of this
critical project and pledges its support in the development of the
Alico site for Florida's tenth University.
This Resolution adopted after motion, second and unanimous
vote favoring same.
