Ordinance, No, 92-70, on October 12, 19925 a~d
~S, 2he State of Florida and the Eastern Coast of
United States in recent years have e~erienced hurricane-type
sto~s that have resulted ~n extensive damage to structures
the path of 2he sto~ and
~S, Collier County staff, local architects,
~ engineers, members of the Development Co,unity, the Collier
'~;' County Contractors Association and the Development Service
~,, Steering Committee '("Committee") have monitored each storm
after it has occurred through a hurricane assessment team
fA~d the causes of damages~ and
~EREAS, after many meetings and discussions, it has been
,'- dete~ined by the Co~ittee that some revisions and additions
~ ~o the adopted Collier County Construction Code, Ordinance No.
· 92-70~ are re~ired ~o provide addit~o~al strength and safety
to structural components that were most ~lnerable and most
consistently damaqed after each sto~ and

~nspect~ons should be required during construction of all
structures to insure compliance with Chapter 1205 a~d the

competent Jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a
separate, distinct, and independent provision and such holding
shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion.
This Ordinance shall become effective upon receipt of
no=ice from the Secretary of State that this Ordinance has been
filed with the Secretary of State.
