PLENUMS; AND DELETING APPENDIX B; DELETING PART OF
SECTION ONE AND REPEALING SECTION FOUR OF ORDINANCE NO.
92-70; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICT AND SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING
FOR INCLUSION INTO THE COUNTY CODE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
W~.AS, Chapter 125, of the Florida Statutes, authorizes the
Board of County Commissioners to adopt a building code, and
WHEREAS, Section 553.73 (1) (a) , Florida Statutes, requires
local governments with building construction regulation responsibility
to adopt a building code covering all types of construction, and
W~{ERMAS, the State of Florida has adopted the 1991 Edition of
the Standard Mechanical Code as the minimum State Mechanical Code.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION ONE~ ADOPTION OF STANDARD. ME~CAL CODE, 1994 EDITION.
The "Standard Mechanical Code, 1994 Edition" including
Appendixes A and C, as published by the Southern Building Code
Congress International, Inc., as amended heroin, is hereby adopted by
reference as the "Collier County MECHANICAL Code" to protect the
health, welfare, safety, common interest and convenience of the
citizens, visitors, and residents of Collier County Florida.
The following text is hereby deleted from Section One of Collier
County Ordinance No. 92-70, as amended: "The Standard Mechanical Code
1991 Edition..." Any other text in Ordinance No. 92-70, as amended,
relating to the former Mechanical Code is also deleted.
SECTION TWO: ~4ENDMET~[S TO STANDARD MECHANICAL CODE.
The "Standard Mechanical Code, 1994 Editfon- including
Appendixes A and C is hereby amended as follows:
CHAPTER I ADMINISTRATION
Chapter I of the Mechanical Code iu deleted in it~ ,.nt~r,~t7.
Refer to the Collier County Building Coru;truction
Administrative Code.
All references to Chapter 1 of the Mechanical Code shall be
interpreted to mean the Collier County Building Construction
Administrative Code Ordinance.
CHAPTER 3 GENERAL REGULATIONS
304.7 CONDENSER AND COMPRESSOR UNITS
304.7.1 Is hereby added to read as follows:
All condensing units mounted on a roof or any other location
subject to movement ~/winds or other forces must be tied down
in accordance to Section 1205 of the Standard Building Code as
published by SBCCI and as adopted and/or amended by Collier
County Ordinance.
304.8 EVAPORATORS AND COOLING COILS
304.8.3 Condensate Disposal Place
Add a new paragraph (4) to read as follows:
All condensate lines, except emergency pan drains and blow
through units, shall have a trap in line. The line shall be
insulated to prevent condensation. Schedule eighty (80} PVC
pipe may be used without insulation.

604.4 Flexible Air Duct Connectors
Add a new paragraph (7) to read as follows:
All flexible ducts shall meet Ul181 Class 1 duct specifications
and shall be so labeled. All horizontal runs of flexible ducts
shall be supported every four feet. All vertical runs of
flexible duct shall be supported every six feet. All
connectors of flexible ducts, plenums, trunks, systems, or
mixing boxes shall use a mechanical connector and shall be air
tight. When Class 1 flexible ducts are installed in accordance
with the above specifications there shall be no length
limitation.
609 PLENUMS
609.3 New subsection 609.3 is hereby added to read as followsi
All supply and return plenum chambers shall have a minimum
clearance of (4") four inches on all sides for accessibility at
the point of connection to the equipment.
APPENDIX Bs SCHEDULE OF PERMIT FEES.
Delete in its entirety. Refer to the Collier County Building
Construction Administrative Code for applicable permit fees.
SECTION THREEx REPEAL OF SECTION FOUR OF COUNTY ORDINANCE NO. 92-70.
Section Four of Collier County Ordinance No. 92-70, as amended,
is hereby repealed in its entirety. Any other text in Ordinance No.
92-70, as amended, related to the former Mechanical Code is also
deleted.
SECTlOll FOURS CONFLICT AND SEVERABILITY
In the event this Ordinance conflicts with any other
ordinance of Collier County or other applicable law, the more
restrictive shall apply. If any phrase or portion of this
ordinance is held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of
competent Jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a
separate, distinct, and independent provision and such holding
shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion.
SECTIOn[ FIVEs INCLUSION IN TH~ CODE OF THE LAWS AND ORDIN~NCES
The provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made
a part of the Code of Laws and Ordinances of Collier County,
Florida. The sections of the Ordinance may be tenumbered or
relettered to accomplish such, and the word "ordinance" may be
changed to "section", "article", or any other appropriate word.
SECTION SIX: EFFECTI~FB DATE - DELAYED.
This ordinance shall be forwarded to the Secretary of
State without delay, but this Ordinance shall not become
effective until 6:00 A.M. on July 1, 1995.
