RESOLUTION 98-98 DECLARING OPPOSITION TO THE ENACTMENT OF SENATE BILL
30 AND REQUESTING THE VETO OF SAID BILL BY THE HONORABLE LAWTON CHILES,
GOVERNOR - ADOPTED
CHAIRPERSON BERRY: I'd like to call to order the special meeting
of the Board of County Commissioners, Friday, April 10th, regarding
the consideration of adoption of resolution opposing the enactment of
Senate Bill 30, also known as the Hessick Claims Bill.
COHMISSIONER CONSTANTINE: Madam Chairman, motion to approve the
item.
COHMISSIONER NORRIS: Second.
CHAIRPERSON BERRY: We've had a motion and a second to approve
the item. Any questions regarding this item?
If not, all in favor?
Opposed?
(No response.)
CHAIRPERSON BERRY: Motion carries, three-zero.
Mr. Weigel.
MR. WEIGEL: Thank you, Commissioner. All Commissioners, let you
know that we are prepared, upon the execution of the resolution. This
will be known as resolution number 98-98. We have the number for it.
Upon that execution, we'd also suggest that Commissioner Berry
send a brief transmittal letter, which I have prepared -- it's very
brief -- for transmittal to the governor. We'll be transmitting this
by facsimile today with the original of the letter and --
COHMISSIONER CONSTANTINE: I'm sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear, but
that was intended as part of my motion.
MR. WEIGEL: Well, that's fine. Actually, I wasn't asking for a
motion, but just to say that as a rather perfunctory transmittal we
would look for a letter from the chairman to accompany this, which is
very brief. It's to the governor. And the originals will be
transmitted by Federal Express. The copy is by facsimile today.
Thank you.
CHAIRPERSON BERRY: Very good.
Anything further?
COHMISSIONER NORRIS: No.
CHAIRPERSON BERRY: If not, motion -- meeting is adjourned.
There being no further business for the good of the County, the
meeting was adjourned by order of the Chair at 11:35 a.m..
