NOTICE: ALL PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK ON ANY AGENDA ITEM

WITH THE COUNTY MANAGER PRIOR TO THE PRESENTATION OF THE

COLLIER COUNTY ORDINANCE NO. 2003-53, AS AMENDED BY
ORDINANCE 2004-05 AND 2007-24, REQUIRES THAT ALL LOBBYISTS
SHALL, BEFORE ENGAGING IN ANY LOBBYING ACTIVITIES
(INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ADDRESSING THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS), REGISTER WITH THE CLERK TO THE
BOARD AT THE BOARD MINUTES AND RECORDS DEPARTMENT.
REQUESTS TO ADDRESS THE BOARD ON SUBJECTS WHICH ARE NOT ON
THIS AGENDA MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING WITH EXPLANATION
TO THE COUNTY MANAGER AT LEAST 13 DAYS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF
THE MEETING AND WILL BE HEARD UNDER "PUBLIC PETITIONS".

Commissioner Henning, Commissioner Fiala, Commissioner Coletta and
Commissioner Halas present in the boardroom. (Commissioner Coyle
absent); Pledge of Allegiance was done in unison
2. Introduction of Emergency Meeting - Jim Mudd, County Manager
3. Updated track information for Hurricane Ike and its effects on the citizens of
Collier County, Florida (Presented by Emergency Management Director, Dan
Summers)

4. Emergency Management Update on Hurricane Ike and Recommendations
include:
A. Governor Crist has sent a "State of Emergency" request to the Federal
Government for signature
B. Possibility of a Category 5 hurricane before hitting Cuba
C. Monroe County has issued staggered evacuations
D. Eleven (11) shelters are ready and in place, if needed
E. Mayor of Naples and Mayor of Everglades City are viewing this meeting
via television and will conduct their own meetings
F. Debris removal by Solid Waste Division; Call 252-2380 for pickup from
Tropical Storm Fay
G. Current activity update: Collier County to feel effects on Tuesday
evening and Wednesday morning
H. Request: "Remain guarded" and "Be prepared"

J. Recommendation: To declare a State of Emergency effective September
7,2008 and to do a budget amendment in the amount of $50,000
5. Determination of Necessity of Declaring a State of Emergency
Proclamation/Resolution 2008-239: Declaring a State of Emergency in Collier
County, FL effective September 7, 2008 - Adopted 4/0 (Commissioner Coyle
absent);
6. Resolution 2008-240: Allowing a Budget Amendment for funding of expenses
by opening an appropriation fund in the amount of $ 50,000 for Hurricane Ike
-Adopted 4/0 (Commissioner Coyle absent)
7. Comments and Speakers
A. Colonel Tom Storer from Collier County Sheriff's Office said that they
will maintain and monitor the storm and engage in emergency
operations plan if necessary; also proposed a curfew during the storm
event to keep in mind (if necessary)
B. Collier County Schools' Superintendent Dennis Thompson to work with
Emergency operations and County through the storm event
