RESOLUTION 95- 326
RESOLUTION TO DECREASE THE EXISTING SPEED LIMIT FROM THIRTY MILES
PER HOUR (30 MPH) TO TWENTY-FIVE HILES PER HOUR (25 MPH) AND TO
PROHIBIT THE OPERATION OF TRUClt,S 1I.ND OTHER COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
HAVING A RATED LOAD- CARRYING CAPACITY IN EXCESS OF FIVE (5) TONS
FROM THROUGH MOVEMENTS ON CERTAIN STREETS IN THE HILLTOP ~D RIVER
REACH NEIGHBORHOODS.
WHEREAS, Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, authorizes the Board of county
Corrrni..ionenl to alter or establish & twenty-five mile per hour (25 MPH) speed limit
on residential streets; and

WHEREAS, an engineering study by the Collier County Transportation Service.
Division indicates that existing speed limits and excess through t~uck traffic are not
compatible with the existing road condition. through the Hilltop and River Reach
neighborhoods since the streets are in fully-developed residential ar~as and both the
pavement width and right-of-way width are not conducive to through truck trafficl and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Corrrni8sioners has determined that it will be in
the be.t interests and benefit of the citizens of Collier County to decrease the .peed
limit from thirty mil.s per hour (30 MPA) to twenty-five miles per hour (25 MPH) and
to prohibit the movement of through truck traffic with a rated load-carrying capacity
in exce.s of five (5) tons on certain streets in the Hilltop and River Reach
neighborhoods.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BO~RD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS or COLLIER
COUNTY, FLORIDA that:
1. The speed limit shall be reduced from thirty miles per hour (30 MPH) and i.
hereby established at twenty-five miles per hour (25 MPH) and the operation
of trucks and other commercial vehicles having a rated load-carrying capacity
in excess of five (5) tons from operation is hereby expressly prohibited on
the following streets:
a. Cypress Woods Drive
b. Michigan Avenue
c. sperling Avenue
d. Trail Terrace Drive
e. Highlands Drive
f. Tenth Street North (lath St. N.) from Michigan Avenue to Solana Road
g. Twelfth Street north (12th St. N.) from Michigan Avenue to Solana Road
h. Fourteenth Street north (14th St. N.) from Cypress WOOd8 Drive to Solana
Road
i. River Reach Orive
2. Authorization is hereby given to the Transportation Services Department to
erect 25 MPH opeed limit eign8 and vehicular load limit signs in accordance
with Chapter 316, Section 316.006, 316.008 and 316.189, Florida Statut..,
Cott\er County Ordinance No. 91-25.
3. A copy of this Resolution shall be tendered to the Collier County Sheri!! for
,,,"enforcement of the speed and load limits established hereby.
