RESOLUTION NO. 9~-32
A RESOLUTION CREATING A COLLIER COUNTY SESQUICENTENNIAL
COORDINATING COMMITTEE TO ENCOURAGE, SANCTION AND
COORDINATE SESQUICENTENNIAL EVENTS IN COLLIER COUNTY;
VHEREAS, 1995 marks the 150th anniversary, or sesquicentennial, of
Florida's statehood; and
WHEREAS, during the 1994 8esslon the Florida Legislature enacted Chapter
94-152. of the Laws of Florida, which established the Florida Sesquicentennial
Commission to lead and coordinate this special occasion; and
\ffiEREAS, The Florida Sesquicentennial Commission has requested that each
County Commission throughout Florida appoint a Sesquicentennial Coordinating
Committee within its respective County; and
WHEREAS, the Sesquicentennial Celebration is designed to be a grass roots
celebration, coordInated at each County's level.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIOA. that:
1) A Collier County SesquicentennIal Coordinating Committee (Committee)
is hereby created for a period of one (1) year to encourage, sanction and
coordinate local Sesquicentennial activities/events.
2) The Committee shall consist of the following members, all of whom have
consented to serve:
a) Hr. Charles Dauray, Chairman (President and a representative of
the Collier County Historical Society).
b) Hr. John Reble, Vice Chairman (President and a representative of
the Friends of the Museum).
c) Mrs. Lora Jean Young (President and a representative of the Marco
Island Chapter of the Collier County Historical Society).
d) Mr. Addison Miller.
e) Mr. Harry Cunningham.
f) Ms. Nancy Olson (representative of the Collier County Museum).
g) Mrs. Mary Chenery.
h) Mrs. Nancy Jane Tetzlaff-Berens
i) Mrs. Nancy Boyer
J) Mrs. Richard Lipman

3) The committee will report directly to the Collier County Historical
Society, which has graciously agreed to be the County's designated agency to
work with the Committee.
4) The Committee will provide regular reports to the Historical Society
and to the County Commission regarding Sesquicentennial activities and events
that are planned In connection therewith.
5) The Committee's meetings shall all be open to the public.
THIS RESOLUTION ADCPTED AFTER MOTION, SECOND AND MAJORITY VOTE.
