RESOLUTION NO. S9-~
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS,
COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION FOR PUBLIC
LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION GRANT FUNDS FROM THE
DIVISION OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SERVICES
OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR
ASSURANCES OF PROJECT COMPLETIONS,
AVAILABILITY OF LOCAL FUNDS AND UNCONDITIONAL
USE OF THE SITE AND FACILITY; AUTHORIZING THE
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD TO SIGN SAID
APPLICATION; PROVIDING FOR ASSURANCES OF
OPERATING FUNDS.
WHEREAS, Collier County operates a library system for the
benefit of the residents of Collier CountYi and
WHEREAS, Collier County will be engaging in a construction
project which will involve a substantial addition to the existing
Library Headquarters; and
WHEREAS, the Division cf Library and Information Services ot
the state of Florida ofters the opportunity to receive state or
federal library construction grant funds for tho construction of
pUblic libraries, and Collier County is desirous of Obtaining such
grant funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
1. Authorization of Aoolication. In order to validate and
authorize the application for grant funds and the submittal of the
Public Library construction Grant Application, FY 89, Florida
Department of State, Division at Library and Information services,
the County Commission hereby approves the completion procedures,
data accumulation, consultants' services, and the submittal or the
finalized application.
2. Assurances of proiect Comoletion and Available Local
Funds. Collier County hereby confirms that the full amount of all
grant funds awarded by the Division of Library and Information
Services of the state of Florida for the construction of the
addition to the Headquarters of the Collier County public Library

shall be matched in County funding already available for such
endeavors. It is understood by the County that the maximum
allowable grant by the state or federal government shall be
$400,000.00. Furthermore, the County assures that the library
construction shall be completed as planned, and that funding above

and beyond that of an equal match of the qrant shall be provided
in county funds for such com~letion, and that the Collier County
Public Library will have unconditional use of the site and
facility for a minimum of 25 years.
J. Authurization to Sian. The Chairman of the Board of
County Commissioners is hereby authorized to sign the application
for the library construction grant funds and all documents
relating to said application.
4. Assurances of ooeratina Funds. The Board of County
commissioners hereby confirms that funds will be budgeted prior to
the compl~tion of con~truction to operate and maintain the library
facHi ty.
