Dear Commissioners,
Mr. John McKinnon is hereby nominated to represent the American Red Cross seat on the
Collier County Citizen Corps Advisory Committee.
Mr. McKinnon is the Executive Director of the American Red Cross of the Southwest Gulf Coast
to Glades Chapter which represents Collier County. We have had a solid relationship with the
local Red Cross, and both parties have been committed to growing that relationship. Mr.
McKinnon, a champion for the community, recently accepted his position with the Red Cross
after serving at the Midwest Foodbank, and has been supporting Southwest Florida for years.
The l ocal Red Cross has participated in Disaster Ready Collier County (COAD) meetings,
responded to both small and large disasters, aided families displaced by home fires,
participated in exercises, and have worked in the community to provide smoke detectors and
education on home fires. Partnership between The Red Cross and Citizen Corp has also
provided networking and opportunities between the Red Cross and Citizen Corp members.
Because of this, I am requesting your consideration and approval of Mr. McKinnon's
appointment with the Collier County Citizen Corps Advisory Committee.
Sincerely,
Collier County Emergency Management Coordinator
