Executive Summary
Recommendation that the Board of County Commissioners appoint its members to the Community Redevelopment
Agency, the Tourist Development Council, the Community and Economic Development Board, the Affordable Housing
Advisory Committee, the Public Safety Coordinating Council, and the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council.
OBJECTIVE: That the Board of County Commissioners make its annual appointment of its members to the Community
Redevelopment Agency, the Tourist Development Council, the Community and Economic Development Board, the
Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, the Public Safety Coordinating Council, and the Southwest Florida Regional
Planning Council, for the 2026 calendar year.
CONSIDERATIONS:
On December 10, 2024, under agenda item 12A, the Board of County Commissioners selected these commissioners to
serve on the above-mentioned committees for the 2025 calendar year:
Community Redevelopment Agency: Dan Kowal, Bill McDaniel
Tourist Development Council: Chris Hall
Community and Economic Development Board: Rick LoCastro
Affordable Housing Committee: Dan Kowal
Public Safety Coordinating Council: Dan Kowal
Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council: Bill McDaniel
By Ordinance, the Chair and Vice-Chair are appointed on a rotating basis based on Commission District. At the
December 12, 2022, Board meeting under agenda item 2C, the Board by unanimous vote adopted a policy of appointing
the outgoing Commission Chair on a rotational basis to the Tourist Development Council. Otherwise, the appointment of
its members to the various committees is at the pleasure of the Board.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this action.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to form and
legality, and requires a majority vote for approval. -JAK
RECOMMENDATION(S): That the Board of County Commissioners make its annual appointment of its members to
the various committees for the 2026 calendar year.
