Remembrance grant award in the amount of $196,561 and allow the County Manager or her designee to serve as the
authorized representative for the grantor electronic submission system, eGrants, throughout the grant award period, and

OBJECTIVE: To support the County’s strategic plan to enhance our commitment to public safety services through
continuing to engage our 55+ residents in public safety events to foster preparedness for emergencies.
CONSIDERATIONS: In March 2023, AmeriCorps announced the September 11th National Days of Service and
Remembrance competitive grant opportunity, with the intent of awarding one-year awards for three consecutive years.
On June 13, 2023 (Agenda Item #16. D.5), the Board approved the after-the-fact electronic submittal of the Fiscal Year
(FY) 2023-2024 Year 1, AmeriCorps September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance grant application in
the amount of $196,561. On August 30, 2023, the Collier County Community and Human Services Division (CHS)
received a notice of award from AmeriCorps, and on January 9, 2024 (Agenda Item #16. D.1), the Board accepted the
grant award funds for Year 1.
On July 29, 2024, the Collier County Community and Human Services Division received a notice of award from
AmeriCorps for the continuation of the grant for Year 2. On October 22, 2024 (Agenda Item #16.D.7) the Board
accepted the Year 2 grant award funds.
On May 27, 2025, (Agenda Item #16.D.7) the Collier County Community and Human Services Division requested after-
the-fact approval for the electronic submittal of the FY 2025-2026 Year 3, AmeriCorps September 11th National Day of
Service and Remembrance grant continuation in the amount of $196,561. On September 25, 2025, the Collier County
Community and Human Services Division received a notice of award from AmeriCorps for the continuation of the grant
for Year 3.
On July 8, 2025 (Agenda Item #16. D.5) the Board approved the two-year award to the Collier County Sherriff’s Office
to facilitate the annual September 11 Day of Service. Throughout the last year Collier County Sheriff’s Office and
County staff have worked collaboratively on the planning and approach to transitioning the programmatic activities to
CCSO. On September 12, 2025, Collier County Sheriff’s Office hosted the Collier County Emergency Readiness
Summit using the FY 2024-2025 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance Grant award. The event was held at the Naples
Grand and was attend by over 350 Collier senior residents.
CCSO is committed to ensuring that the year 3 summit will continue to focus on teaching the community how to help in
a crisis so they can be better prepared to keep themselves and first responders safe when disaster strikes. The event will
end with a "Call to Action" for those in attendance to participate in AmeriCorps and the Retired Senior Volunteer
Program (RSVP). As in the previous year, the objective is to have these volunteers participate in ongoing events
throughout the year to help teach and prepare residents throughout Collier County for a disaster utilizing Collier
County's Community Emergency Response Plan (CCERP) and CCSO’s Community Emergency Response Team
(CERT) program.
Supports the County’s strategic plan to enhance our commitment to public safety services through continuing to engage
our 55+ residents in public safety events to foster preparedness for emergencies.
