CR Documents 09/04/2025 B nrg@r- l?IC D SEP 0 3 Z0Z5 Marco Island, Aug 29th 2025 COLLIER COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS To: Collier County Board of County Commissioners cc: City of Marco Island Council; Collier County School Board; South FL Water Mgmt District; Collier Mosquito Control From: Marco &Carmen Matouk 1830 Harbor View Circle, Weston, FL 33327 Property: 39 Collier Blvd, MARINER APTS OF MARCO ISLAND, BLDG 1-107 (Parcel 59881520002) TRIM mailed: 08/18/2025 RE: Please adopt the rolled-back millage; objection to 2025 proposed tax increase— Parcel 59881520002 Dear Commissioners, We respectfully object to the 2025 proposed millage increases shown on our TRIM notice and ask you to adopt the rolled-back(no-new-revenue) rate under F.S. 200.065. • Our total taxes would rise from $3,188.64(2024)to $3,417.89(proposed 2025)— an increase of$229.25(+7.2%); and $261.35(+8.3%) above the rolled-back scenario of$3,156.54. • A 7%+tax bill increase outpaces inflation and fixed-income adjustments as we approach retirement. • Driver of the increase: the City of Marco Island proposes 1.6680 mills (tax line "Operating City of Marco Isl"), taking our city line from $420.69(rolled-back)to $600.78(proposed)—a +42.8%jump versus rolled-back, and +38.7%year-over- year. The county general fund also stays above rolled-back(3.2449 vs 3.0781 mills), adding another$60.07 over no-new-revenue. We fully support core services and public safety. However, with insurance, HOA, utilities, and healthcare costs rising, another above-inflation tax increase is unsustainable for near-retirees. Please: 1. Adopt the rolled-back millage (Column 2 on the TRIM) or lower, holding revenues flat excluding new construction. 2. Direct departments to fund increase through efficiencies and prioritization, deferring nice-to-have projects. 3. Coordinate with the City of Marco Island to avoid stacking county and city increases on the same household in a single year. 4. Continue exploring senior relief options permitted by law for homesteaded seniors, while avoiding broad millage hikes that burden all taxpayers. For the record, our TRIM details are: • 2024 total taxes: $3,188.64 @ 9.1256 mills • 2025 rolled-back scenario(no budget change): $3,156.54 @ 8.7638 mills • 2025 proposed: $3,417.89 @ 9.4894 mills • Key line items (proposed vs rolled-back): • County General Fund: $1,168.74 vs $1,108.67 (+$60.07) • City of Marco Island: $600.78 vs $420.69 (+$180.09) • Others (net): +$21.19 Please enter this letter into the public record for the budget hearings (County 9/4/2025 5:05 PM; City 9/8/2025 5:30 PM; School Board 9/9/2025 5:05 PM; Mosquito 9/10/2025 5:01 PM; SFWMD 9/11/2025 5:15 PM). We ask you to stand with residents on fixed incomes and vote for the rolled-back rate. Re pectfully, arc &Carmen Matouk Phone: +1 (954) 294-2273 I Email: marcoc matouk.net
