January 23'd, 2025, Minutes: Motion made by Captain Conley, Seconded by Walt Jaskiewicz - motion passed unanimously trI. New Business: 1.) Membershio Undate: (updates provided by Joshua Starrett) a. Red Cross: Josh spoke to Red Cross, and they are currently restructuring a position that is not currently posted but a disaster specialist and will serve in this role. b. RSVP: Position has since been filled and an update will be provided later in the meeting by Dana Sebestian. 2.) CCSO- (inhoduction and report provided by Cpl. John Amabile) Cpl. Amabile, works in patrol unit but helping with emergency management and disaster planning. a. Reported that Captain Cunningham recently took over the CERT program. i. 61 members ii. 19 new members signed up, this Saturday April 26'h,May 1Otr and 31" are training dates for new CERT members iii. April 29th-- current (alumni) CERT members, Active Shooter Drill iv. CCSO has a large event coming up, June 4'h, 2025- Aclive Shooter Response Event- this is focused on the reunification and reunification ofpeople with their families. 1. 500 people involved. 2. 200 role players for this event-adults and students 3. Fire and EMS Chiefs Association (Absent and no report provided) 4.) Local Mitieation Stratesv Update (LMS): (report provided by Amy Howard) -- Amy passed out the minutes of the last LMS meeting, a PowerPoint and the approval letter from FEMA for the new LMS- a. They met last Friday the l8th as the committee, however there were not enough members to have a quorum so nothing could be voted on. b. The BCC has approved the resolutions made, the State of Florida has approved the LMS and then FEMA has approved the latest draft. The plan is valid through 2030 (see attached FEMA approval letter) c. Collier is allocating all the local mitigation monies for collier county to the Elevate Florida program. This eliminates any jurisdictional liability for homeowner projects. d. Every hazard in the LMS will be tied to objectives and goals. SMART framework will be utilized in creating the goals that align with the plan. 5.) DOII- Camillo Tones, (brought Vince from assessment department who is shadowing him). DOH is focused on restocking supplies and materials in advance ofthe start of2025 Hurricane Season 6.) Preparedness Training and Exercise Update: (reported by Josh)-{ERT Track 2.0 is the new system and there have been several reported issues and Cert Track 1.0 may be coming back. 7.) G2304- Planning and Skillset - May 8.) G400 IC5400- May 20'h-21"1) at full capacity however you can still register to beon the waitlist. 9.) EOC is doing Hunicane Training with a focus on lifelines. More information to come. 10.)Logistics section and resource management training: May-inquire to Mike Shaw for more information I I .)Active Shooter/Reunification exercise will be conducted by CCSO. EM is participating. fV. IndividualReports: 1.) Coast Guard Aux. - (Admiral Jaskiewicz) asked ifthere is still medical reserve core program through DOH. This program isn't active however there are still ways to volunteer with DOH and just need to contact DOH) a. Yolunteer Positions at DOH i. Nursing ii. Doctors iii. Mentat Health? b. 60 members in Marco Island Chapter and most are professionals of some sort (attomeys, physicians, engineers, etc.) Marco is very active and does the back water patrol. c. There is constant training for volunteers due to fluid changes within the Coast Guard. (25 hours a year mandatory to keep your qualifications) d. Desire to find an old DVD that was made on securing your boat. It was discussed that Admiral would like to find it 2.) Salvation Armv: - (Captain Will Conley) TSA working with the Southem Baptist. Captain Conley has been working on a committee within this organization to help mobilize mass feeding coordination with other providers in the State. a. Recently completed Canteen Ops courses, CPR. If folks are interested in going out 24 hours after a storm. Trainings are all at Salvation Army (3180 Estey Avenue) 3.) RSVP: - (Dana Sebestian) Dana introduced herselfand she has filled the position of Tami Bailey and are currently in process of hiring Meredith Gavin's (former member) position. CCHS has made an offer that was accepted by the individual who is currently going through the County's hiring process. New hire coming from Maine and ran the RSVP program there as well as a. CCSO taking over the Day of Service program-Chief Stephanie Spellman is the contact. b. CCHS is working on 4.) United Wav: - (Ashley Jones) a. Community resiliency and disaster specialist title-new position will allow more opportunities to work with folks in the $oup. b. UWCK focused on moving forward the volunteer program. They have also registered with Activate and Ashley is currently working through the program. c. UWCK is helping push forward the VRC on behalf of DRCC. Galaxy Digital has been acquired and UWCK is undergoing training and will bring it to the Volunteer Mgmt. Committee. Two meetings have been held so far. The committee is completing ICOC training with DRCC. i. Ashley updated on Volunteer Reception Manual (roadmap) and provided a copy. Asked for volunteers. Next meeting Thursday May 8th at the UWCK. 39 partners invited. ii. VRC is to manage spontaneous volunteers during and after disaster/crisis. d. VITA: Due to Helene and Milton, individuals have until May I't to file their taxes. Several new tax laws & deductions that UWCK can help get to folks-reach out to Ashley for more information. 5.) DOH-No additional updates 6.) ARES- (reported provided by Rich Naples & LizAppling). Update: ARES is intended to provide radio and communications go down. a. Recently Josh Starrett placed an antenna on the roofand found there were still spots without service. b. Liz provided several events (see attached notes) c. Liz requested that if any Citizen Corp attendees know of folks in amateur radio to please encourage them to attend a meeting, leam more or participate in this local chapter. You do not have to be a member ofthe local chapter. d. Rich- the simplex is the most basic of the radio (similar to walkie talkie) and generally do not transmit very far but do not require or use electricity. These radios are able to communicate state wide. 7.) CERT- (Barry not present) - Verona Walk Cert-greater Naples fire district will be doing a full course CERT program on February 22d. They gradudted 22 new cert members. April 5!htheydid a training at Greater Naples Fire HQ----over 50 participants and huge success. a. CERT will continue to hold trainings b. North Fire CERT-no new updates. 8.) DRCC: (Ashley Maher) - provided an update on ln Case of Crisis software and if anyone is interested in participating in training to contact Ashley Maher Additional Updates: UWCK (Ashley Jones reported the changes at the Federal Level o FEMA ended the BRIC program as of April 4th o Any projects where funds were granted but not allocated or utilized have been clawed back.
