Red Cross: Joshua Starrett provided an update regarding the Salvation Army of Collier County has been officially approved as a voting member of Citizens Corp. b. CCSO: -- (reporl provided by Lt. Laura Lopez) i. CERT Class starting in February-curently seeking more people and participation. ii, Swamp Buggy Parade and Naples Wine Fest both are coming up and will have CCSO presence. iii. CCSO conducting Asher scenario of reunification at Naples Church on March 24rh. This is a microscale version ofthe larger one that will take place in June of 2025. 15 students will participate, busing the students to site and conducting the reunificalion drill. Food and Volunteers may be requested. iv. March 2025 will work with Civil Air Cadets. lV. Old Business: a.Fire and EMS Chiefs Association Update: (no report.l III. b. Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) Update: (report provided by Amy Howard) i. T'he LMS working group meeting held on January 11r',2025, had a really good turnout. There will be a push for more regular attendance as the local mitigation strategic plan required active participation. These meetings are opentothe public. ii. LMS Plan was submitted to the State (1" round) and the Collier BES team is currently making the requested changes and will send back for the next draft round. iii. There were reports provided on the Elevatc lrlorida program, Grant opportunilies/funding, Brick and Flood Applications are due on the lTth and to discuss with Amy or Josh for more information. c. Preparedness Training & Exercise Update: (report profided by Mike Shaw) i. Training & Exercise Committees next meeting is February 4't',2025, at 1lam. ii. The recently completed AG2300 (intermediate) course had l9 students--most from emergency management, individuals who work in the []OC and/or from those who have expressed interest. iii. February 13tt',2025 a 2pm is the next WebEOC training. These will begin to be offered monthly. iv. IC5300- February l8'h-20th, 2025. There is one spot lefl and will go to a waitlist. v. Next G2304 will be April 29s-May I't,2025. vi. IC5400 will be May 20d'-21", those who are taking the F'ebruary course will meet the 90 day requirement. vii. Starting lifeline and reporting trainings and requests with partner organizations in preparation ofthe 2025 Hurricane Season. viii. Sk).rvam:- Currently 40 people signed up. This could move to 50 individuals. Mike will send out information to those interested. Individual Reports: a. Department of Health: (No Report this meeling) b. Collier County Human Services/RSVP Update: (report provided by Meredith Gmin) i. Meredith reported she will be transitioning from working for Collier County Human Services to a newly accepted role at the local Domestic Violence organization. The County is working on backfilling her position and Tami Bailey's. ii. Meredith-Day of service planning for the 2nd annual event has begun. January 28'h from I 0arn- I I am at the Collier Community l]oundation will be the next planning meeling. Meredith discussed 6 prcscntations being cornpleted, all approximately I hour in length, the bags were distributed however they take up more room than antioipated and will look into a different kind of bag for year 2 event. Meredith also reported a QR code was added to materials allowing individuals to easily scan and register for A lert Cotlier & 3- 1- I . Committee will revisit focus areas + keynote speaker for year 2. 3. The event willtake place on September l4n',2025 at l"tNaples Church as this venue can accommodate more individuals as the event has outgrown the previous location (South County Library). 4. 650 kits will be distributed again in year 2. a. ARES Volunteers will help put logether kits again in year 2. Coastal Guard Auxiliary Update: (report provided by Admiral i. Discussion took place on organizations listed on letterhead and Citizens Corp materials who are not active and whether they should be removed. It was discussed that during COVID-19 those providers/partners provided critical information to lhe group. and lhey do not impact quorum. ii. Walt shared a picture from the Citizens Corp in the past and specifically discussed the types of presentations and activity the group used to facilitate, participate in, etc., It was also discussed how funding previously existed for materials to create displays featured in the front ofLowe's and information was provided on how to secure your home/building, what to take with you when evacuating and other important resources and/or information. iii. All boating classes are filled up with the Coast Guard. iv. Marco Auxiliary Chapter is seeing it's highest membership ever however there was discussion on the desire to see younger people join as it currently is majority filled by retirees. l. Discussion followed on in general a desire to see younger individuals (high school students in particular) get more involved. It was mentioned that the messaging has not been going as favorably as hoped and seeking suggestions on how to help get the message into the schools and homes. d (report provided by Chris Pritchart & Liz Appling) Recently conducted a practice run during halfmarathon. t hour testing on top of garage-on air communication. Update from last meeting: several projects are still underway. Liz reported Club meetings are held the l" Wednesday ofeach month fiom 6pm- 8pm. l. This upcoming Saturday from llam-4pm will be the Winter Field Day at Veterans Community Park. Tape measure antennas will be built. 2. On February 22"d at 10:30am, a fox hunt (electric fox) using your yage previously built(see above) willbe tested. Lunch will be served at 1l:3Oam ll. lt t. e. CERT Update: (report provided by Barry Gerenstein) i. Barry reported CERT is meeting monthly. Trainings are 2 Saturdays for new members. ii. Desire to reinitiate district wide training. RE S l. f. NCFD/CERTi (Not present) g, UWCK Update': (report provided by Ashley Jones) i. UWCK provided an updale that they have officially laLrnched a Volunteer Program through theirorganization think"matchmaking". l. Volunteer Reception Center in partnership with DRCC and CCF. The softwarc purchased and training guides are currently being tested and will be ready to activate in advance ofthe 2025 Ilurricane Season beginning. 2. Volunteeruwck.org for more information. Organizations and individuals will setup their own profile on their site and will be matched with interest expressed for volunteering (either an organization or person). ii. Ashley reported UWCK's VITA program is getting ready to kickoff. This program will run from February 5s-April 15d, 2025. It is geared toward individuals who make $66k or less. l. Tax Extension possibly through May lstfor I'lurricane Milton impacted residents. 2. To schedule an appointment, visit their website as appointments are encouraged. a. Every Wednesday from 9am-2pm appointments are offered. 3. They have partnered with 1'1 Horizon Bank. h. DRCC Updlte2 (report provided by Ashley Maher) i. In Case of Crisis: Software that will be utilized by DRCC for for communicating with partner agencies during disaster/crisis will begin trainings in upcoming months. ii. Understanding the difference between disaster related needs versus social, health and human service blue sky days. 1. Seeking long term solutions that assist to minimize andlor not recreate the same issue each time disaster or crisis happens. Red Cross: (nol presenl)l. j. TSA is able to take a breath after a very busy end ofyear, reopening ofmain location impacted by the fire and tumover with staffing. ii, TSA reported they are looking into possibilities to help them expand services as they currently have a small social service program and would like to be a larger full-scale program. l. Monday and Wednesday normal pantry days and on Fridays will partner with Harry Chapin for the outside pantry (current) 2. Pathway to Hope Program-two generational approach to break the cycle ofpoverty is high priority ofTSA. 3. Captain Conley also reported servicing residents of Immokalee (8,300 households this year). They held a 5-day distribution site at the sports park. iii. On February 22nd aI Sam the inaugural "Hustle for Hope" race will take place at North Collier Recreational Park. Discussion took place on the recent immigration discussions, laws and the roles the NGO's play as well as a question was asked on if specific NGO's in the room have had discussion with local government.
