Dear County Commissioner,
My name is María Rozó, and I am a proud resident of Collier County and a member of Baker
Senior Center Naples. I am writing to voice my strong support for the center’s request to
extend its hours of operation to include select evenings and weekends.
Baker Senior Center Naples is the only facility in Collier County that consistently provides
activities and programs tailored for seniors, fostering meaningful connections among our
community members. Beyond recreational opportunities, the center offers essential services
such as caregiver support groups, grief counseling, and mental health resources—critical
support systems for seniors and their families as they navigate the challenges of aging.
By allowing the center to remain open two evenings per week and two weekend days per
month, you will ensure that seniors and their families have access to these vital services at
times that better accommodate their needs. Our senior community deserves better access to
the resources that enhance their well-being and quality of life.
I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration. Thank you for your support.
Best regards,
María Rozó

Commissioner Saunders -
I appreciate your reply to my email regarding the FPL Summit Substation Tower. You
mentioned that the tower was approved at yesterday's meeting, but that is not my
understanding of what happened. If it was, in fact, approved, please let me know and
I will notify the neighbors that the project is moving forward.
Regards,
Jill K. Snyder

Commissioner Saunders:
I am writing to you in support of the FPL/Verizon monopole installation (aka FPL Summit
Substation Communication Tower) in Weber Woods. We live at 3430 3RD AVE NW and
are currently in the "unreliable coverage" area identified below in red by Verizon.
For years we have been dealing with the frustration of not having reliable cell coverage, and
many times, not having any coverage. The situation continues to deteriorate as the trees
continue to grow and the capacity on the cellular network continues to increase. I filed a
complaint with the FCC in 2022 along with thousands of others in this region attempting to
resolve this critical issue.
Lack of reliable cellular coverage affects us in many ways:
* First and foremost is public safety and welfare. We cannot reliably dial 911 from our
home. You gamble with the odds of whether or not the call will be completed. We walk a lot
in our neighborhood as well, and there are sections which have zero cell coverage, which
means you would not have any ability to dial 911.
* We utilize 'wifi calling' to help us with call completion on our devices, but our internet
connectivity is just about as bad as our cell coverage and is also not reliable. And of course,
wifi calling only works when you are connected to a wifi network.
* Being able to work from home is challenging. Conference calls, zoom calls, etc., are
difficult to keep connected. Once we are connected on a call made on our cell phones, 75
percent of the time we can't keep the call connected. It continually drops. We have one room
in the upstairs of our home, and if we sit by the window, we have the highest probability to
keep our call connected. That's how we have to work.
I have attended several of the public hearing meetings concerning the installation of this
monopole, including the CCPC meeting and the BCC held yesterday. I spoke in support of
the communication tower at the CCPC meeting and was scheduled to speak yesterday but
have deferred that opportunity to the next meeting on March 11. I was very disappointed at
the outcome of yesterday's meeting and trust that the issues raised by the commissioners can
be satisfactorily addressed at the March 11 meeting. It is so important to get this
communications 'black hole' addressed as soon as possible for myself and all of us living in
this 'unreliable communications zone'. It's not just a matter of convenience, it's a matter of
public safety and welfare.
Respectfully,
Jill K. Snyder
