The Black Affairs Advisory Board (BAAB) was called to order at 6:10 p.m.
Paster Jean-Paul requested assistance in secunng a permanent location for his language
classes. The board advised him to discuss this matter with the school board and county
commissioners, offering to facilitate a meeting if needed.
Mr. Newton stressed the importance of the board developing a plan with key focus areas
such as affordable housing, education, and communication.
A discussion ensued regarding the target demographic for the board's initiatives. Mr. Keeys
emphasized the need for the Black Affairs Advisory Board to be more inclusive and
consider the needs of all demographics when advising the Board of County
Commissioners.
Mr. Keeys suggested referencing the 2020 Census data to analyze the county's
demographics and better understand community needs.
Mr. Newton highlighted the importance of effective public communication.

Maria Hopkins outlined the current emergency communication process, which includes
translating all information into Spanish and Creole and disseminating it to local media and
extemal agencies.
The meeting adjoumed at 7:00 p.m.

Center.
