Executive Summary
Recommendation to authorize a Budget Amendment for the Facilities Management Division in the amount of
$181,945.35, to reallocate County Wide Capital Projects Funding from the Building J Renovations Project (53172) to the
J3 Boiler Renovation Project (50311).
OBJECTIVE: To realign the Building J Renovations project and the J3 Boiler Renovation Project funding and
authorize the necessary budget amendment.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Collier County “New Jail” Building J3 at the Main Campus is serviced by two (2) 400-
gallon, 800,000 btu dual fuel hot water storage tank boiler systems located in the Parking Garage #1 (PG1) mechanical
room. The entire system is antiquated, inefficient, and beyond repair. The existing boiler systems, flues, and all
associated piping are being replaced with eight Rinnai energy-efficient natural gas tankless rack mounted water heaters.
The new water heaters will be capable of meeting the current and future needs of the facility and include a new gas
detection system. The water heaters will also be connected to the Collier County Reliable Dashboard to allow for remote
monitoring.
FISCAL IMPACT: A budget amendment is necessary to reallocate funding in the amount of $181,945.35 within the
County Wide Capital Projects Fund (3001) from the Building J Renovations project (53172) to the J3 Boiler Renovation
Project (50311).
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this Executive
Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal issues and
requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
