Mike Shaw reported: No direct fatalities due to storm, but motor vehicle accident wliich led to two deaths. Rapid damagc assessment - 151 marked rnajor, 466 marked minor, 5l I affected county wide. Significant events fuel challenges for generators. 8 general pop shelters with just over 2000 citizens, just over 70 at special needs shelter. Good communication./coordination rvith cities. Provided muck out kits all around. ii. Joshua Starrett reported: 402 muck out kits distributed, Church United held a distribution event. FEMA numbers iii. Liz mentioned she feels that the realtors are under-utilized. Need a strong call to action. iv. Meredith: High Rise (mainly seniors) stayed during Helene. Total of 50 vehicles were lost. IV. Old Business: 1t Fire and EMS Chiefs Association Update: (report submitted by Chief Chris By'ne) i. Discussion took place on need for more iufomation to Seniors on where to go during evacuations (follorv up to Collier Prepares Summit report) ii. Coast Guard Aux has not offered any tips on how to secure boats and properly iii. No additional reports currently. b. Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) Update: (report provided by Joshua Statett) i. Rescheduled the LMS working group meeting to 1110812024. Vulnerability study being conducted through the Collier Resiliency Plan. c. Preparedness Training & Exercise Update: (report provided by Mike Shcrw) i. All classes have been cancelled for thc remainder ofthe year. Will be conducting WebEOC trainings. ii. Expanding on F I-IMA lifeline classes iii. Participants tried to do tCS in the EOC and was not as successful. Individual Reports: a. Department of Health: (report provided by.Joshuu Slatetl on behalf ofCamillo Torres- Rodriguez) i. After the hurricanes, DOII has focused on potential disease outbreaks and have reached outto our communities providing TDAP vaccines (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) to prevcnt infection of bacteria entering the body from cuts, wounds or burns especially fiom contaminated water. ii. rve are refilling oxygen tanks and stocking supplies and equiprnent after the activation for the Sl'NS. iii. The annual Bug Bus livent for2024 in IMMOKALEE has been cancclled as the community continues its recovery and organizations continue thcir response efforts. b. Collier County Human Se rvices/RSVP Upd^le': (reporl provided by Meredith Gnin) i. Getting into thc srving ofthings with volunteers. Day of Service event was very successful, over 150+ in the room. Folks stayed for the whole day, people loved the emergency readiness bags. ii. Meredith Day of service was on a waitlist, (trainings: every Friday in November except Thanksgiving, will be makeup sessions that are about an hour long.) Participants will receive their bags then (who did not attend the in-person or was on the waitlist). Mercdith did not get the word out to lmmokalee yet but will be. She has people ready to go into the 55+ community. iii. Planning for the second annual event will be stafiing in the New Year. c. Coastal Guard Auxiliary Update: (no reporl) d. ARES: (report provided by l,iz Appling) i. Increased from 5 people to over 20+ ii. A handful ofprojects underway. e. CERT lJpdate: (report provided by Barry Gelenstein) i. Greater Naples Fire Depts are all commrtnity based. After the storm each one went out and did damage assessmettts. ii. They did not see any communities with substantial damage. iii. Lots ofpower outages but no severe damage. iv. Cypress Group- relocated an oxygen dependent person. v. Will be running a full CERT class in Mid-January/February vi. Barry would also like to get a rnini drill done between all ofthc teams. IIe also presented that on Nov l6d', i 5 participants from the CCSO Cefi. f. NCFD/CERT: (report provided by Heother Mazurkiewicz) i. Hosting FEMA Course, when disaster strikes and design. It is designed for the civilian at any level. Novembcr 14d'-l5tr', 161h. ii. There has been difficulty on the user side registering for this. Heather received permission to allorv people to email her directly to register. iii. Currently has 21 registered. lt is a half day on Friday and full day on Saturday. (heather is going to be sent out) g. UWCK Updale: (report provided by Ashley Jones) i. United Way of Collier and the Keys reported they will be conducting a needs assessment to evaluate the communities' needs and disbursing gift cards in response. ii. UWCK reported they currently have a donor who will match l:1, up to the first $ 100,000 received. h. Fire and EMS Chiefs Asso ciarlion (report provided by Chief Byrne) i. Fire RescLre has becn increased since Ian but lvas rninimal during Helene/Milton. ii. Fire was connected rvith video and audio which allowed them to pafiicipate in the briefings for tlte EOC. J. k.
