Executive Summary
Recommendation to approve a Special Event Permit and the road closures that are necessary for the Annual Everglades
Seafood Festival to be held February 5 – 10, 2024, in Everglades City, in order to fulfill Collier County’s special event
permit requirements for road closures.
OBJECTIVE: To have the Board of County Commissioners approve the Special Event Permit and the road closures of
sections of County Road 29 (CR 29) for the Everglades Seafood Festival, to be held February 5 – 10, 2024, in
Everglades City.
CONSIDERATIONS: Everglades City is hosting their Annual Everglades Seafood Festival February 5 – 10, 2024 in
Everglades City. The organizers have applied for a Special Event Permit that includes a request for road closures,
(PL20250000383). The event organizers are requesting to close Hibiscus Street (between Buckner Ave N and Storter
Ave N), Copeland Ave (between Gardenia St and Ixora St), and Broadway Ave (between Buckner Ave N and Storter
Ave N). Portions of Copeland Ave and Broadway Ave are County-maintained roadways (CR 29), which require Board
of County Commissioner approval for closure for special events.
Both the Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and the Greater Naples Fire District (GNFD) have reviewed the special event and road
closure plans; crowd control and drone usage will be under the purview of CCSO. Additionally, the event organizers
have received approval from Collier County Public Utilities for waste disposal and recycling plans. Temporary sanitary
facilities will be provided and serviced. There is no proposed amplified sound for the event.
FISCAL IMPACT: The applicant has paid the $150 Special Event permit fee associated with this permit.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated with this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality and requires majority vote for Board
