OBJECTIVE: To recognize interest earned by EMS County Grant funding received by the Florida Department of Health. CONSIDERATIONS: Each year EMS is awarded a grant through the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. The most recent grant was approved by the Board of County Commissioners ("Board") on July 9, 2024 (Agenda Item #16.F.7). The purpose of the grant is to improve operational efficiency and increase the safety of patients and field personnel. Funds will be used to purchase medical and rescue equipment. Funds are advanced and therefore accrue interest. The State allows for the rollover of any unexpended funds, including interest, to the next year’s grant for County expenditure in support of the grant program. The EMS Grant Fund (4053) has accrued interest of $2,341.96 from July 1, 2024 through September 30, 2024. Staff is seeking Board approval to recognize and appropriate this accrued interest towards expenditures in support of medical and rescue equipment. FISCAL IMPACT: A Budget Amendment is required to recognize a total of $2,341.96 for accrued interest earned to date ($825.31) and carryforward ($1,516.65) within EMS Grant Fund (4053), Project 33655. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this action. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal issues and requires majority vote for approval. - JAK RECOMMENDATIONS: To approve and authorize a Budget Amendment to recognize carryforward for accrued interest, in the amount of $2,341.96, from July 1, 2024 through September 30, 2024, earned by EMS County Grant to support the purchase of medical and rescue equipment.
