Agenda 10/22/2024 Item # 4B (Proclamation recognizing the individuals who fostered animals from Collier County Domestic Animal Services during Hurricane Milton)PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, on October 9, 2024, Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida, posing a significant danger
to life, property, and well-being to not only the residents and animals in its path; and
WHEREAS, Collier County Domestic Animal Services faced the daunting task of ensuring the safety
and protection of animals housed in its shelter; and
WHEREAS, in response to this urgent need, a group of dedicated and compassionate individuals stepped
forward to provide temporary homes for 78 animals from the Collier County Domestic
Animal Services shelter; and
WHEREAS, these generous individuals opened their hearts and homes to foster dogs, cats, and other
animals, providing them with shelter, comfort, and care during a time of great uncertainty
and danger; and
WHEREAS, the selfless actions of these foster families exemplify the spirit of community, kindness, and
resilience that makes Collier County a wonderful place to live and serve; and
WHEREAS, their efforts not only protected vulnerable animals from harm but also alleviated pressure
on local animal services, allowing them to focus on other urgent needs during the hurricane
emergency;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida,
do hereby
Recognize and extend our heartfelt gratitude to the remarkable individuals who fostered animals
from Collier County Domestic Animal Services during Hurricane Milton
Their compassion and commitment have made a lasting impact on our community, and their contributions
will be remembered and appreciated.
