Agenda 10/22/2024 Item # 4A (Proclamation designating October 25 - November 2, 2024, as Mobility Week in Collier County)PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Mobility Week is a cooperative effort by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
and its partner agencies to promote awareness of safe, multimodal transportation choices
by hosting an annual collection of outreach events; and
WHEREAS, Mobility Week is an ideal time for counties, cities, and transportation agencies to highlight
achievements, introduce new initiatives, and/or implement new policies promoting
sustainable transportation; and
WHEREAS, Mobility Week is an opportunity for all individuals to explore various transportation
choices and is consistent with Collier Area Transit’s (CAT’s) key priorities of promoting
active, safe, and environmentally friendly travel choices to reduce traffic congestion and
improve community health; and
WHEREAS, CAT supports Mobility Week by participating in transportation events in collaboration with
FDOT and partnering with the Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office to host “Try
Transit Day” on Saturday, November 2, 2024, by offering free rides on CAT’s fixed-route
buses; encouraging residents to ride on CAT for a free ride to the voting polls or anywhere
served by fixed-route buses on November 2nd, the last day of early voting;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida,
that October 25 – November 2, 2024, be designated, as
MOBILITY WEEK IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 22nd Day of October 2024.
