Backup Documents 08/27/2024 Item #16H 1 16H PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers began in 1981 and continues to be a very successful and worthwhile community program. The program serves Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, Glades, and Lee counties and is designed to solve crimes with the help of concerned citizens, by offering reward money and complete anonymity for information that assists in bringing criminals face to face with justice; and WHEREAS, Student Crime Stoppers and Crime Stoppers combine to make Southwest Florida a safer place to live; and WHEREAS, Crime Stoppers is a 501(c)(3) organization supported by donations of money, goods, and services. These donations enable Crime Stoppers to replenish their reward accounts and profile unsolved felony crimes through print, radio and television media, billboards, posters, and advertising; and WHEREAS, over the past 43 years, tips to the Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers have resulted in nearly $4 million in recovered property and nearly $15.4 million in narcotics seized. Additionally, 21,191 arrests have resulted in the closure of nearly 22,000 cases. To date, cash rewards in excess of $2.3 million have been distributed; and WHEREAS, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is celebrating its 43"1 year of service to Southwest Florida, and its Board Members are very proud of the program's accomplishments, and they look forward to many more years of its partnership with the community; NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that September 2024 be designated as SOUTHWEST FLORIDA CRIME STOPPERS MONTH IN COLLIER COUNTY DONE AND ORDERED THIS 27t' Day of August 2024.
