Resolution 2024-142 RESOLUTION NO. 2024 -1 42 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A PORTION OF STATE ROAD 29 ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2024, AND DETERMINING THAT THE CLOSURE IS NECESSARY FOR THE CHERRYLE THOMAS' - CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD PARADE AND SNOW GALA HOSTED BY THE IMMOKALEE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. WHEREAS, the Immokalee Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Cherryle Thomas' - Christmas Around the World Parade& Snow Gala on Saturday, December 21,2024, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm and seeks to temporary close and reroute traffic on a portion of State Road 29 (the Event Map and Maintenance of Traffic for Road Closure and Detour Route Plan are attached hereto as Exhibit"A" and by reference incorporated herein); WHEREAS,prior to the temporary closure of a state road for a special event, pursuant to the Florida Administrative Code Rule 14-65.0035, the County must determine that a temporary closing of the road is necessary for the event and obtain written approval from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT); and WHEREAS, the County is required to send a copy of a duly executed resolution authorizing the special event to FDOT to obtain prior written approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY FLORIDA,that: 1. The Board of County Commissioners hereby authorizes the Cherryle Thomas' - Christmas Around the World Parade & Snow Gala on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. 2. The Board of County Commissioners determines that the temporary closing of a portion of State Road 29 is necessary for the lmmokalee Chamber of Commerce to host [24-CMD-00191/1879293/1128 Page 1 of 2 7/18/24 the Cherryle Thomas' - Christmas Around the World Parade & Snow Gala on December 21, 2024. 3. The Board of County Commissioners hereby directs County staff to provide a copy of this duly executed Resolution to FDOT to obtain prior written approval, in accordance with Florida Administrative Code Rule 14-65.0035. h THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED after majority vote on this I day of AU' wS4 2024.
