Well, we were told the Orange Blossom Ranch was on summary agenda and per the agenda

Would the Commissioner still have time to meet either tomorrow anytime besides 11:00 or
Monday 9:00, 4:00, 4:30?
Thanks!

Subject:Ivy Medical Center Zoning Request
EXTERNAL EMAIL: This email is from an external source. Confirm this is a trusted sender and use extreme
caution when opening attachments or clicking links.
Dear County Commissioners,
I am writing with concern regarding an item for a rezoning request that is on the consent
agenda for your January 24 meeting:
Ivy Medical Center is requesting a piece of land designated as agricultural be rezoned to
commercial to allow for medical buildings. The land sits between Saturnia Lakes and Heritage
Greens on Immokalee Road, which is already so overwhelmed at various driving times that the
congestion has become unbearable. Access and egress to Heritage Greens, which is the
community right next door to this proposed rezoning property, can be a horrible driving
experience, even with the “DO NOT BLOCK” signs and flashing ligh ts, which are routinely ignored
by many drivers. Additionally there are two schools that are just beyond that and the hazards
that additional traffic brings to our children increases with every new vehicle traversing this
already overburdened roadway.
As I understand it, rezoning should be used as a benefit to our community, not as a detriment.
More traffic on that roadway is not a benefit. The only people this rezoning would help are the
project developers, whose financial windfall will come at great expense to those in this
community you commissioners are supposed to be safeguarding. And while I realize there are
many instances where your hands are tied when a piece of property is already designated for a
particular use, in this case, moving the item from consent and then opposing rezoning is an
option, and one that I hope you will consider.
Respectfully,
Dan Anderson

Subject:Proposed future Ivy Medical Center on Immokalee Road

Commissioners, With respect to this proposed medical center that will be squeezed in between the
Heritage Greens Community on the west side of Arrowhead Golf Course and the east side of Saturnia
Lakes community, I question the justification to approve the current zoning from agricultural to
commercial in an already overcrowded corridor on Immokalee Road. I hope that all of you have travelled
this corridor anytime between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM Monday through Friday to experience the
traffic that is a daily frustration to us all who live in North Naples. Traffic leading to and from Gulf Coast
HS at the beginning and end of the school day is horrendous. At rush hour (between 4 pm and 6 pm) it is
even worse. Saturnia Lakes and Heritage Greens residents already experience difficulty exiting our
respective communities on a daily basis heading east as this is our only option. Now you will be adding a
third entrance/exit onto Immokalee between the two.
In my humble opinion progress is not filling up every available piece of property in Naples. We in Heritage
Greens have repeatedly asked for assistance in providing a safe egress from our community as it is so
close to the entrance to Gulf Coast HS. Traffic does not stop to allow us to exit our community; our exit is
constantly blocked when the light at the school is red. There are flashing yellow lights and verbiage on
the road that no one pays attention to. With the increase in construction in North Naples heading out
towards Immokalee and increased population in this area, this situation has become severe in the last 5
years. Now to add a commercial building in the midst of this chaos is not going to help at all.
I urge you to travel this corridor during school and business hours to feel our pain and reconsider
allowing this zoning change for the Ivy Medical Center.
Respectfully,
Suzanne Rivara

Below Recently posted on Next Door by a Heritage Greens resident:
I have not yet seen anything on here about the “Ivy Medical Center” Public Hearing Notice sign that was
recently installed on a small piece of land between Saturnia Lakes and Heritage Greens on Immokalee Road.
My husband called the county and was told that the land is presently zoned agricultural and is being rezoned to
commercial so the landowner can build medical office building(s) there. Right now Immokalee Road is so
congested that it has become a true hazard just trying to exit our community. And the other day it took me 20
minutes to drive from Heritage Greens to Sams Club, a distance of 4.3 miles. So why in the world would we
2
want to add MORE traffic on the road by rezoning a piece of land that will increase vehicle traffic? The person
at the County said the issue was recently passed by the Planning Board and sent to the County
Commissioners for approval at their January 24 meeting as a consent agenda item. If you believe rezoning that
will lead to adding needless additional traffic to an already overburdened roadway is a bad idea, please let the
county commissioners know. Sent from my iPad

Commissioner Saunders, Et al.
The BCC meeting of January 24 is next week. I respectfully renew my objection to any efforts to
rezone the property. Voting to allow a commercial development (and more traffic) on a parcel
that is presently zoned for agricultural on a roadway that is already failing is reckless.
I, like many of my neighbors, are unable to attend the meeting to voice opposition. That is why
we have elected leaders who will hopefully recognize that the deliberate rezoning of a property
which will increase traffic on an already overburdened roadway, with significant impact on
multiple contiguous communities along with a nearby elementary school and a high school, is
needless and dangerous. You, our leaders, have no obligation to allow this change in designation
and should not do so.
I am sure you get many complaints about the horrible traffic issues on Immokalee Road. If you
are true to making “Collier County a great place to live, work and play”, finding ways of
addressing the traffic, not adding more to the mix, is a good start.
Thank you,
Dan Anderson

Subject: Ivy Medical Center Zoning Request
EXTERNAL EMAIL: This email is from an external source. Confirm this is a trusted sender and use extreme
