Recommendation to authorize the Chairman to execute twenty-four (24) Deed Certificates for purchased
burial rights at Lake Trafford Memorial Gardens Cemetery and authorize the County Manager or designee
to take all actions necessary to record the Deed Certificates with the Clerk of the Court’s Recording
Department.
OBJECTIVE: To ensure that the twenty-four (24) Deed Certificates presented as part of this item are signed and
recorded.
CONSIDERATIONS: Collier County established Lake Trafford Cemetery in December 1964 on 20 acres, off
Little League Road in Immokalee. The Cemetery was used exclusively for indigent burials until it was opened to
the public in 1982. The Board formally adopted a cemetery operations policy in July 1982 under Resolution 82 -
105, which has been amended several times since. Real Property Management Section of the Facilities
Management Division, under the auspices of the County Manager, is responsible for operation of the Cemetery,
which includes preparing and processing Deed Certificates indicating plot location, after the sale of burial rights to
the public.
Twenty-four (24) Deed certificates have been purchased. This item is to authorize processing of those Deed
Certificates and recognize the revenue.
FISCAL IMPACT: Proceeds of $9,344.40 were received for twenty-four (24) deeds, consisting of $9,000 for plot
sales and $344.40 for doc stamps and recording fees. One (1) of the deeds is a Claimed Pre -Need. Plot sale
receipts are deposited in General Fund (0001), Immokalee Cemetery Cost Center 122370.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no impact on the County’s long-range planning effort.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality, and requires a majority vote for
Board approval - RTT
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize the Chairman to execute Deed Certificates for purchased Lot and Block
burial rights at Lake Trafford Memorial Gardens Cemetery and authorize the County Manager or designee to take all
actions necessary to record the Deed Certificates with the Clerk of the Court’s Recording Department.
