Item 11D to be heard no sooner than 1:30 PM: Long-Term Lease and Operating Agreement with The Gate Golf Club, Inc., (“The Gate”). 4/24/2024 3:34 PM 04/23/2024 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to hear an update on the State Veterans’ Nursing Home project from the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs. __________________________________________________________________________ OBJECTIVE: To hear an update on the State Veterans’ Nursing Home project from the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs. CONSIDERATIONS: On March 14, 2023, the Board executed with the State a Memorandum of Agreement and an Escrow Agreement to allow the County to transfer $30 million of Infrastructure Sales Surtax funds to serve as the State’s share of construction matching funds in securing additional federal funds for a State Veterans’ Nursing Home in Collier County. In addition, the County agreed to convey real property within the Golden Gate Golf Course to the State for the nursing home at some time in the future once additional FDVA requirements have been met. On June 13, 2023, the Board allocated an additional $10 million from surplus Infrastructure Sales Surtax revenues to be provided toward the construction of additional facilities for adult day health care services and outpatient therapy. During the 2024 Regular Session of the Legislature, the State also appropriated an additional $10 million for the facility. The deadline for the State’s initial application to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for the VA Construction Grant Program was April 15, 2024. FDVA submitted the initial grant application on April 9, 2024. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no immediate fiscal impact in taking this action. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no immediate growth management impact anticipated via this First Amendment.
