PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Naples Botanical Garden is a leading force in plant conservation, ecological
restoration, nature-based environmental solutions, horticultural
excellence, and environmental education; and
WHEREAS, the Garden is a significant economic driver in Collier County, attracting
260,000 visitors per year and employing nearly 200 staff members; and
WHEREAS, the Garden celebrates the dedication of its Evenstad Horticulture Campus
on January 16, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Campus is the catalyst for the Garden's growth, development, and the
advancement of its mission; and
WHEREAS, the Campus will enable the Garden to deepen its commitment to
Southwest Florida by researching and safeguarding its native plants;
developing and sharing urban forest best practices; leading and
participating in ecosystem restoration and climate resilience initiatives;
partnering with local governments and conservation organizations; sharing
knowledge with multiple stakeholders; and providing a place of respite and
sanctuary for the community; and
WHEREAS, the Garden's influence and conservation efforts extend into the Caribbean,
one of the world's "biodiversity hotspots," abounding with plant species
essential to the needs of people, wildlife, and ecosystem health; and
WHEREAS, the Garden recognizes and honors the deep commitment of community
members and civic leaders in making the Evenstad Horticulture Campus a
reality;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, honors the contributions of Naples Botanical Garden and
celebrates the Evenstad Horticulture Campus for its far-reaching impact
on the Garden, Southwest Florida, and beyond.
