OBJECTIVE: To reappoint a member to the Public Transit Advisory Committee, to a three-year term expiring on March 22, 2026. CONSIDERATIONS: The Public Transit Advisory Committee was originally established as an ad hoc committee on February 26, 2013, by Resolution No. 2013-50, to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners in matters related to transit policies, issues, programs and plans to provide mass transit services to the citizens of Collier County. On March 22, 2016, the BCC adopted Ordinance No. 2016-07, which converted the committee from an ad hoc to a regular advisory committee, and reduced the membership from 9 to 7 members. Members of this committee shall include one representative designated by the District School Board of Collier County and, if possible, include representatives from large employers, health care related services, social services and transportation and planning professionals. At least two representatives shall be passengers of the system. Terms are three years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup. One seat on this committee expired on March 22, 2023. The vacancy was continuously advertised since January 29, 2023, and the following application was the only one received: APPLICANT CATEGORY DIST. COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its meeting on March 21, 2023, the committee voted unanimously to recommend that Mr. Berry be reappointed to his seat on the committee, to a three-year expiring on March 22, 2026. A recommendation email is included in the backup. FISCAL IMPACT: None. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality and requires majority vote for Board approval. -JAK RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee Recommendation, and authorizes the Chair to execute the attached resolution confirming the reappointment. The applicant has been evaluated based on their potential contribution to the PTAC and are recommended on those criterions to be eligible for the committee. Mr. Berry has previously served as the Vice -Chair to the Public Transit Advisory Committee and was previously selected based on his potential contributions. He has been an important contributor to the overall success of CAT over his time with the committee. As standing Vice Chair, with his position in the community, and while maintaining a great attendance record, Mr. Berry has demonstrated he is a true asset to the committee. The Public Transit Advisory Committee met on March 21, 2023 with an In -Person Quorum and made a recommendation for Mr. Peter Berry to fill the Vacancy.
