Backup Documents 03/14/2023 Item # 4A 4A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Pace Center for Girls, Collier at Immokalee (Pace at Immokalee) opened on March 25, 1998, with the mission to provide girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training, and advocacy; and WHEREAS, Pace at Immokalee values all girls, believing each one deserves an opportunity to find her voice, achieve her potential, and celebrate a life defined by responsibility, dignity, serenity, and grace; and WHEREAS, since its opening, Pace at Immokalee has served more than 2,500 "at promise" girls between ages of 11-18 and their families by providing free year-round middle school and high school academics, case management, counseling, and life skills development; and WHEREAS, Pace at Immokalee is a safe space where girls with multiple risk factors commit to growth and change for a better future, done in a gender- responsive, strengths-based, trauma-informed environment where girls heal from their past and prepare for a better future; and WHEREAS, March 25, 2023, marks the 25th Anniversary of the Pace Center for Girls, Collier at Immokalee, and in Florida, the month of March has been declared as "Believing in Girls Month" recognizing the positive impact women have made in all aspects of modern life, and the importance that the next generation of young women leaders be provided with the tools they need to be successful; NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that March 25, 2023, be designated as 25TH ANNIVERSARY FOR THE PACE CENTER FOR GIRLS, COLLIER AT IMMOKALEE DONE AND ORDERED THIS 14th Day of March 2023.
