Tell us your story, how has your organization or company given back
to the community? Provide an example.
New Horizons of SWFL aims to make a sustainable, lasting impact on the community by
giving our students the tools they need to reach their full potential and graduate from
high school with a plan for their lives, including being accepted into college/vo-tech
and/or seeking employment and becoming contributing members of our communities.
New Horizons seven educational programs provide after school and in the summer
programs and services at locations near where students live and go to school. Our
programs are specifically designed for socioeconomically disadvantaged students who
live in homes where English is not the primary language. Students create multicultural
and multigenerational relationships with volunteer tutors who work with them in small
group and one-on-one learning environments tailored to meet students' individual
needs. This is a win -win for our community. Our volunteers, many of which are retired,
have a meaningful experience in building relationships and helping our other community
members, those children and youth most vulnerable in our community.
What makes your company a
great place to work? Describe
your culture and
accomplishments.
New Horizons of SWFL's commitment to be a great workplace has developed a culture
of comradery and excellence. Ask our staff, and they will talk about their commitment to
our students. Their love of the vital work is incredibly rewarding. We have worked hard
to bring our salaries to industry standard and to the best of our ability provide benefits
that support a healthy work -life balance.
Our student accomplishments: We served 597 students in the 2021-2022 school year
There were 79% of our Super Kids Club students maintained a "C" or higher grade in
reading. 90% of our middle and high school students in out Super Teens Club had a
GPA of "2.0" or higher. We had 263 volunteers in the 2021-2022 school year, and this
year we are already over 400 volunteers.
Through our team we are accredited through the Council on Accreditation; certified
through the financial institution ECFA; Guidestar Seal of Transparency; 100 out of 100
Charity Navigator rating; 2022 Top -Nonprofit with Great Nonprofits; and currently in
process to be a "Best Christian Workplace" designated organization.
