Backup Documents 11/08/2022 Item # 4B 413 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the month of November marks the observance of International Fraud Awareness Week, as organized by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners; and WHEREAS, governments are frequent targets of fraud, and instances of fraud in government undermines the good work and reputation of all government employees and decreases confidence in public officials; and WHEREAS, fraud against the Collier County government is a burden borne by its citizens and businesses in the form of increased costs, loss of public revenues and resources, and increased expenses associated with the investigation, prosecution, and eventual incarceration of individuals who commit fraud; and WHEREAS, the Collier County Clerk and Comptroller's Office maintains an Office of Inspector General, which includes a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Inspector General, and two Certified Inspector General Investigators, who are dedicated to preventing, detecting, and reporting on fraudulent activities; NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that November 13 - 19, 2022, be designated as INTERNATIONAL FRAUD AWARENESS WEEK IN COLLIER COUNTY DONE AND ORDERED THIS 8th Day of November 2022.
