Backup Documents 11/08/2022 Item # 4A 4A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, November is National Diabetes month and November 10,2022, marks the day to raise public awareness of the importance of education regarding diabetes and the complications the disease can cause; and WHEREAS, Collier County community partners, healthcare providers, researchers, and academia join to support and promote efforts to manage diabetes; and WHEREAS, 13 percent of Florida adults have diabetes and 39 percent have pre- diabetes; and WHEREAS, the American Diabetes Association reports that people with diabetes incur medical expenses nearly 2.5 times higher than those without diabetes; and WHEREAS, with proper care, diabetes of all types can be successfully managed leading to a healthier and more productive population of children and adults; and WHEREAS, we wish to recognize John Reisman as a longstanding community leader in support of programs that benefit Collier County residents dealing with diabetes and its complications; NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that November 10, 2022, be designated as NATIONAL DIABETES AWARENESS DAY AND THAT JOHN REISMAN BE RECOGNIZED AS A LONGSTANDING COMMUNITY LEADER DONE AND ORDERED THIS 8th Day of November 2022.
