OBJECTIVE: To reappoint one member and appoint three new members to the Black Affairs Advisory Board. CONSIDERATIONS: This nine -member board was created in 1991 to identify and evaluate problems unique to the black community, review and recommend ways to ensure open communication between minorities and Collier County government, and provide periodic reports to the Board of County Commissioners. Terms are four years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup. There are currently four vacancies on this advisory board. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: This board has been unable to have a quorum for several months, and so has been unable to make a recommendation on these applications. Staff recommends that Michael Patterson be reappointed and that John Newton and Cynthia Griffin Cave be appointed to the Black Affairs Advisory Board, to four-year terms expiring on June 25, 2026, and that Jeris Lampkin Smith be appointed to fill a vacant term expiring on June 25, 2025.
