Backup Documents 05/10/2022 Item # 4E E PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, motorcycle riding is a popular form of recreation and transportation for hundreds of thousands of people across the state and nation; and WHEREAS, the motorcycle community brings an important economic and educational benefit to our community; and WHEREAS, American Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE), has chapters all over the state, and the Gator Alley Chapter of ABATE of Florida, Inc., is Collier County's largest motorcycle rights organization; and WHEREAS, the Gator Alley Chapter of ABATE of Florida, Inc., is focused on the primary functions to promote motorcycle awareness and safety and to work closely with legislators to protect the rights of motorcyclists; and WHEREAS, the Gator Alley Chapter has a member base that represents a true cross-section of Collier County, with a membership including medical professionals, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and tradesmen among others; and WHEREAS, motorcycles are more widely used now than ever before, and drivers need to be more aware of their presence; and WHEREAS, the educational and legislative efforts of ABATE of Florida, Inc., and the Gator Alley Chapter are cooperative efforts aimed at decreasing injuries, fatalities, and heightening educational initiatives; NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that May 2022 be designated as MOTORCYCLE SAFETY AWARENESS MONTH IN COLLIER COUNTY DONE AND ORDERED THIS 10th Day of May 2022. <<�) III 1l1/b�Fi>> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (O \ COLLIER FLORIDA W LIAM L.
