Backup Documents 05/10/2022 Item # 4A 4a PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, in 1962 President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week; and WHEREAS, being established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others; and WHEREAS, our law enforcement agencies play an essential role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms that are guaranteed by the Constitution to every American citizen; and WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens know and understand the duties, responsibilities, hazards, and sacrifices of their law enforcement agencies; and WHEREAS, members of the Collier County Sheriff's Office recognize their duty to serve the people by safeguarding life, property, and the constitutional guarantees of all persons by protecting them against violence and disorder; and WHEREAS, the professionalism, dedication, and courage exhibited by the Collier County Deputy Sheriffs throughout the performance of these demanding and often conflicting roles deserve our utmost respect; NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that May 11 - 17, 2022, be designated as NATIONAL POLICE WEEK DONE AND ORDERED THIS 10th Day of May 2022. c�)11 All i//////) BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS 1 \ COLLIER C• • , ORIDA f G� f ((4 i/ �\��\� �; WI Al AM L.
