Agenda 04/26/2022 Item #10D (Update for the Recruitment of the County Manager)04/26/2022
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation that the Board of County Commissioners accept an update regarding the County
Manager recruitment process and provide any additional guidance.
OBJECTIVE: To review the progress made since April 12, 2022 on screening of the candidates selected
to move forward for consideration for the position of County Manager.
CONSIDERATIONS: During the April 12, 2022 BCC meeting, the Commissioners selected seven (7)
of forty (40) applicants to move forward with the next phase of the hi ring process for the position of
County Manager.
Prior to being offered the opportunity for an in-person interview, the Commission directed that each
candidate undergo a background screening process. The seven selected candidates received an email
communication on April 15, 2022, which outlined the next steps in the recruitment and provided details
about the information the County requires to start the background screening.
While awaiting the return of information from each candidate, due by Friday, April 22, 2022, the Human
Resources Division, in conjunction with the Procurement Services Division and the County Attorney’s
Office, is working to secure the services of a vendor to conduct the background screenings. Once the
vendor agreement is in place, candidates continuing with the process will be notified of the steps they
must take to be screened. After the vendor has all required information, either from the County or
candidates, they can begin the screening process. Results for the screenings are expected to be returned
within seven (7) business days from the date ordered.
FISCAL IMPACT: Cost to screen each candidate is estimated at $223, exclusive of any third -party or
court access fees. The total expenditure for screening is not expected to exceed $2,275.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This action will result in no growth management impact.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board accept an update on progress made for hiring of the next
County Manager and provide any additional guidance.
