EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint two members to the Public Transit Advisory Committee.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint two members to the Public Transit Advisory Committee, to three-year terms
expiring on March 22, 2025.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Public Transit Advisory Committee was originally established as an ad hoc
committee on February 26, 2013, by Resolution No. 2013-50, to make recommendations to the Board of
County Commissioners in matters related to transit policies, issues, programs and plans to provide mass
transit services to the citizens of Collier County. On March 22, 2016, the BCC adopted Ordinance No.
2016-07, which converted the committee from an ad hoc to a regular advisory committee, and reduced the
membership from 9 to 7 members. Members of this committee shall include one representative designated
by the District School Board of Collier County and, if possible, include representatives from large
employers, health care related services, social services and transportation and planning pr ofessionals. At
least two representatives shall be passengers of the system. Terms are three years. A list of the current
membership is included in the backup.
Three seats on this committee expired on March 22, 2022. The vacancies were advertised, and the
following applications were received:

ATTENDANCE: During the past two years, Mr. Caton has had six excused absences, and Mr. DiMarco
has had one excused absence. Attendance records are included in the backup.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its meeting on February 15, 2022, the committee voted
unanimously to recommend that Mr. Caton and Mr. DiMarco be reappointed to their respective seats on
the committee, to three-year terms expiring on March 22, 2025. A recommendation email is included in
the backup. The remaining vacancy will continue to be advertised.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
recommendation and authorizes the Chair to execute the attached resolution confirming the
reappointments.

RESOLUTION NO. 2022 - ____
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, REAPPOINTING JAMES CATON AND
JOHN DIMARCO TO THE COLLIER COUNTY PUBLIC TRANSIT
ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, on March 22, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) adopted Ordinance
No. 2016-07 establishing the Collier County Public Transit Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) to
assume the duties and responsibilities of the former Collier County Ad Hoc Public Transit Advisory
Committee, which was established by Resolution No. 2013-50, as amended, to make recommendations to the
Board in matters related to transit policies, issues, programs, and plans to provide mass transit services in
Collier County; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2016-07 provides that the Advisory Committee shall be composed of
seven members to include one representative designated by The District School Board, at least two
representatives who are passengers of the system, and when possible, representatives of other categories as
set forth in the Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, there are three expired seats on this Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners previously provided public notice soliciting
applications from interested parties; and
WHEREAS, the Advisory Committee has provided the Board with its recommendation for
reappointment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that JAMES CATON, a planning professional, and JOHN
DIMARCO, III, a transit rider, are each hereby reappointed to their seats on the Collier County Public
Transit Advisory Committee, to three-year terms expiring on March 22, 2025.
THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED upon majority vote on this the 12th day of April, 2022.
