EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to accept the after-action report for the 2022 Florida legislative session and
provide guidance as preliminary planning begins for the next legislative cycle.
OBJECTIVE: To pursue and report on the Board’s State and Federal Legislative and Administrative
Priorities in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C.
CONSIDERATION: Each year, prior to the convening of the State Legislature, staff prepares a
proposed list of State and Federal Legislative and Administrative Priorities for the upcoming year for
consideration and subsequent endorsement by the Board. The Priorities document sets the policy and
appropriations goals for the lobbying team and provides guidance in monitoring, supporting, or opposing
legislation, as applicable.
The Legislature recently adjourned, sine die, on March 14, 2022. By their adjournment, the Governor
will now have 15 consecutive days from the presentment of a particular bill to his desk to sign the
legislation into law, veto it, or to allow the bill to become law without his signature. To allow for the
most recent information on gubernatorial action, a PowerPoint presentation will be forthcoming at the
Board meeting and added to the public record.

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This executive summary has no immediate growth
management impact.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
