02/22/2022 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to hear a presentation from Colin Baenziger, Baenziger and Associates, outlining the steps and timeline for the County Manager recruitment process; designate a staff point of contact to coordinate the recruitment; and consider naming a Commission designee to work with the County’s representative. OBJECTIVE: To understand the steps and timeline the executive search firm anticipates taking in the recruitment of candidates interested in consideration for the position of County Manager, determine the Division or County representative responsible to oversee and coordinate with the consultant during the recruitment process, and consider the appointment of a Commission designee to work with the County’s representative to provide guidance on any questions or decisions required by the consultant during the recruitment process. CONSIDERATIONS: During the February 8, 2022 BCC meeting, the Commissioners selected Baenziger and Associates to conduct the recruitment for the position of County Manager. Mr. Baenziger will provide an overview of the recruitment process and timelines to the Board and answer any questions the Commissioners may have regarding the process. • Review the typical process steps and tasks to be completed. • Overview of the project schedule. • Evaluate the proposed interview schedule for May 2022 Following the presentation, Mr. Baenziger will schedule a time to meet virtually with each Commissioner in order to gather information necessary to get the recruitmen t underway. FISCAL IMPACT: None. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This action will result in no growth management impact. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal issues and requires majority vote for action. -JAK RECOMMENDATION: That the Board name a designated County representative to coordinate with the consultant on the recruitment process and consider the appointment of one Commissioner who will be authorized to make decisions or provide guidance as needed, outside of a regular Board meeting, related to the recruitment for the County Manager. March 8, 2022 CB&A submits the draft of the full recruitment profile to the County for its review March 15, 2022 County provides comments on the proposed recruitment profile Phase II: Recruiting March 18, 2022 CB&A posts the full recruitment profile on its website and submits it to the appropriate publications. It is also e-mailed to over 13,700 local County and government professionals. April 15, 2022 Closing date for submission of applications. April 20, 2022 CB&A reports the results of the recruitment. Phase III: Screening, Reference Checks and Credential Verification May 9, 2022 CB&A forwards its candidate report and materials to the County electronically.
