C. Traffic Calming — Dummy Cameras — Additional Stop Signs
The County Attorney's Office received as request from Mr. Schumacher about installing "dummy
cameras" to deter speeding on St. Andrews Blvd. Growth Management Division also reviewed the
request. The resulting opinion is that such dummy devices are not permitted on County roads.
Consequently, the M.S.T.U. cannot go forward with installation of Dummy Cameras.
Discussions regarding county opposition to the committee's request to add stop sign on Saint
Andrews Blvd. at the intersection where the highest speeds have been recorded ensued.
Viable options for M.S.T.U. consideration are:
• Construction of Speed Tables, which requires an engineering study and agreement by
residents directly impacted.
• Installation of Speed Bumps or Speed Humps (traffic study & resident agreement required).
• Installation of a crosswalk at Pine Valley Circle and St. Andrews Blvd.
• The Homeowners Association could encourage residents to "slowdown."
