K.3 02/08/2022 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to reappoint two members to the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Advisory Committee. OBJECTIVE: To reappoint two members to three-year terms expiring on February 11, 2025. CONSIDERATIONS: The Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Advisory Committee is comprised of 9 members. This committee's primary responsibility is to recommend to the BCC an Active Properties Acquisition List with qualified purchase recommendations of environmentally sensitive lands consistent with the goals of the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Program. Membership of the committee shall comprise broad and balanced representation including environmental and conservation interests, agricultural and business interests, educational interests, and general civic and citizen interests within the County. Members shall have expertise, knowledge or interest in ecology, conservation of natural resources, real estate or land acquisition, land appraisal, land management, eco-tourism or environmental education. Terms are three years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup. Two seats on this committee will expire on February 11, 2022, and there is one additional vacancy. I personally do my best to support the environment by living a low waste lifestyle. Like most environmentalists, I think conservation of lands is important for the sustainability and economic dev elopment of our county. • Agricultural and Business: I created Naples Compost, an eco-friendly business that provides compost education and food waste pick-up for the residents of Naples. I sold the business in 2021 and continue to support the business. I am intrigued by the agriculture in Collier County. I find it fascinating that we produce so much produce and I do my best to eat local and support local farmers, big and small. • Educational: I'm a former middle school and high school teacher. There is a meaningful connection between environmental education and conservation. • General Civic and Citizen: I strongly feel like all citizens should have access to environmental preserves. Not only should they have access, but they should be able to reap all of the other environmental benefits preserves offer. Many of my coursework focused on ecology. I also worked as a research scientist with Florida Fish and Wildlife for a year while I was in graduate school. My job included GIS mapping of the seagrass in Tampa Bay. Much of my research required an in depth knowledge of ecology. This committee's primary responsibility is to recommend to the BCC an Active Properties Acquisition List with qualified purchase recommendations of environmentally sensitive lands consistent with the goals of the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Program. Membership of the committee shall comprise broad and balanced representation including environmental and conservation interests, agricultural and business interests, educational interests, and general civic and citizen interests within the County. Members shall have expertise, knowledge or interest in ecology, conservation of natural resources, real estate or land acquisition, land appraisal, land management, eco-tourism or environmental education. K.3.c RESOLUTION NO. 2022 - A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, REAPPOINTING HANNAH RINALDI AND MICHELE LENHARD TO THE LAND ACQUISITION ADVISORY COMMITTEE. WHEREAS, Collier County Ordinance No. 2002-63, as amended, established the Land Acquisition Advisory Committee (`Committee') to assist the Board of County Commissioners (`Board') in establishing an "Active Properties Acquisition List" with qualified purchase recommendations consistent with the goals of Conservation Collier; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2002-63, as amended, provides that this Committee shall consist of nine members representing the broad and balanced interests of Collier County Citizens as set forth in the Ordinance; and WHEREAS, there are two seats which expire on February 11, 2022, and one additional vacancy, on this Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners previously provided public notice soliciting applications from interested parties; and WHEREAS, the Committee has provided the Board with its recommendations for reappointment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that MICHELE LENHARD, representing environmental/ecology/conservation interests, and HANNAH RINALDI, representing environmental/eco- tourism/conservation interests, are hereby reappointed to their seats on the Land Acquisition Advisory Committee to fill three-year terms which will expire on February It, 2025.
